Thermometers

I went to Wal-mart today and they were out of thermometers. But I was wondering what is a good brand, style, or whatever characteristics a thermometer has. Also is it that important to have one, the people at the pet store seemed to be informative and never said anything about getting one, they just gave me a heating pad, and said it would be enough. Any help would be great, thanks. Oh, as you can tell I am kinda new to this. But I really like Chuck Norris (my snake) and want to make sure he lives a long time, thanks again.

Your looking for one that has a probe. Thats the most important part. You could also get one with a hygrometer build in it too. But you need to take the temperatures of where the snake will be laying on, thus you need a probe.
I got mine from the pet store to be honest with you. It was made for this purpose Just look for it.

Good Luck

I use the Accurite brand thermometer/hygrometer. Yes, they really are that important.
if you don't have one, you won't know how hot your tank really is. When I was setting my first tank up, I found the temps to be about 130' Therefore, while you are in Wal-mart, go ahead and get a lamp dimmer. This will bring your temps down to a safe level.
