Thermostat Shorted

So I'm in a real big pinch. My Hydrofarm thermostat shorted when I tried to relocate it to a different UTH. I quickly rushed on over to Petco and bought the ONLY thermostat they had available, which is the Zilla Thermometer controller, for Too much. (read- $60). So right now, I'm waiting for it to warm up and trying to keep my corn warm. Inside my home is fairly warm, High 70s F. How long do have? I don't want him to get sick and freeze.

I also set up an Amazon return for my Hydrofarm, and read that the Zilla thermostat isn't super good, but I want to ask you guys for your advice.

When was the last time your snake ate? As long as he is not actively digesting, and it is warm enough in your house - you are okay for a couple days. Try holding him against your body for a while to warm him up if you are worried. But I would not feed him until you get the issue sorted out. Don't worry too much - I have had power outages in upstate New York winters and my snake has always been okay.

He ate on Friday afternoon, and now he's just resting under the paper towel and aspen. My replacement for my Hydrofarm won't come in until May 11th, and I'm really hoping that Zilla doesn't fail on me until then. Petco said I have a 60 day return policy for the Zilla. Should I try to get him a heat pack or insulate his home with towels?

Oh I forgot to mention that my heat pad still works but I really don't want to use it w/o something to control it, Unless I routinely unplug it when the heat gets too much

The Zilla thermostat should be fine. Just hook up the thermostat and monitor the under tank heat pad with a thermometer.

Your snake will be fine at 70. He only needs the 85 in order to digest and you have that covered. He's already got a good start at digesting.

Zilla thermostat doesn't even work after an hour of no heating up. I use a temp gun to check temps. I'm going to return it tonight, and I ordered a replacement on Amazon. It'll be here tonight x-x; Levi finished digesting his mice. Is it okay to have my space heater to keep the temps up?

Agree with DollysMom. If the room is mid to high 70s, you'll be good for a little bit. Corns are pretty resilient, especially if it's not a baby and room temp will do for a bit.
