This must be a slug

Zade is deep in the blue and I woke up to find this laying next to her. I can only assume it's a slug, but it is much smaller than I expected an egg to be. I think she has more to go, but will be hugely surprised if we see anything but slugs since I don't think she's been successfully bred (ever). She has had a lay box for a week and spends a lot of time in it but laid this slug outside of the box. Could that just be from inexperience or does she know it's a slug??

Yep that is a slug.
As for the lay box and putting it outside of it. Who knows. Snakes are weird creatures.

You never know, keep the laybox in there she may lay slugs and there may be some fertile ones. This year was my females first times breeding and they both laid beautiful fertile eggs. Don't count them out before their laid lol if you know what I mean.

I have had several females lay a slug out side their lay box and then go in to lay good ones. I'm not sure I have seen a girl in blue lay though.

They can drop slugs outside the chosen laying spot, so it's not that unusual. There may be more to follow, so don't be surprised.

There's still an outside possibility that she may lay fertiles ones as well - sometimes they can come along days after the female has cleared out some slugs. When they do that, they tend to return to the chosen laying place and settle before they pass any fertile ones.

Odd that it passed while she's blue, but slugs especially tend to not stick to the "rules" (such as they are!).

My virgin female has layed 4 definate slugs in her lay box and last night has decided to lay 12 eggs (mixed slugs and pos good) on top of her lay box...... best of all 2 weeks after the slugs!!!!!!!!!
I was getting really worried she wasn't going to lay them.......

Ok I am confused. Maybe I am reading wrong but if she is a virgin how is she laying good eggs?

@ cmalchow I do not know who it happens but I have read that it does in deed happen.

@ multicorn you are sure she was never bred before, like possibly before you owned her, they can hold onto sperm until they feel it is a good time to use it, I have read of them holding it for over a year!
