This is Buffy. A year old CB Tokay gecko, I went to get a male Leo and well she caught me eye. I fell in love when she gaped at me. xD I was bad and didn't get a Leo. But I've been doing research (lots) and wanted one for awhile. :pick:

I love the looks of Tokays, but I've heard they're nasty tempered creatures. I've been bitten by common fence lizards and itty bitty anoles, before, and it hurt! I wouldn't fancy getting bitten by a Tokay, and that's a fact!

As for working with it--not me! I'd have to content myself with setting up a nice viv for it and just watching it :). That would be good enough for me, though. They really are beautiful, and yours is no exception. Congratulations!
 
i used to keep a few tokays, and actually...if you handle them gently for a few weeks and not grasp them, they will actually gain trust in you and become quite placid! i had almost all of mine pretty mellow. i had sixteen of them and only one would bite, the rest were actually very mellow. you have to be consistant and gentle, and a tokay can actually be a very mellow, handleable gecko.
 
Thanks Guys. From what I heard that is completely correct they need constant/gentle handling. I love a project. =) I am completely in love already, she is so beautiful and you can just see the intelligence in her eyes., the way she looks at you.
 
She is so dark, I love her. I have three and I don't bother trying to hold them. In fact I avoid even getting near them. You should see me clean them, I clean around them lol. I didn't really want tokays but I found mine outside my bf's apartment but I like them they are pretty and interesting to watch.
 
Yeah, at the moment I'll be like that. But I would like to assemble some sort of handling even if it is just for cleaning and feeding. I'm not going to push though it will be her choice when she is ready to trust me. I think she deserves respect.

I respect mine enough not to get bit lol. My bf got bite by them catching them and they wouldn't let go lol. I'd rather get bit by my Igs then my tokays at least the igs let go lol. I've seen some that have been pretty calm with handling and I'm sure if you work with her enough she won't be too bad.
