Treating/Ridding mites

Obviously, my snake has gotten mites. I assume being that I bought him from the petco petstore. I don't know how long she's had them but i've begun to notive the black spots under her scales and one moving on her today. I went to another local petstore to pick up stuff to use, but he said that dish detergent would suffice to rid the cage/waterbowl of mites and that baby power will INSTANTLY kill any on my poor snake.

Any thoughts on this? I want to be rid of them ASAP and don't want any methods that wont work.
