Two Weeks of Eating Less!

Heeey. I've had my Hestia for a bit over two months now, and she's been a great feeder for quite a while. Nothing could seem to stop her appetite.

Now, however, she's been eating only one pinkie on her every-five-day schedule! The lump from this, of course, goes away after about twenty-four hours. No good.

Last week she took the one with no problem. This week, I had to cut the thing open before she'd look at it. Is it normal for snakes to start eating less? Will her appetite come back, or is there something I should do to help?

Thanks so much!

What was your schedule before this? Was it always five days? What size food was she on before? From the information you gave I would suggest going to a larger size with longer in between. Try feeding every seven days and see if she has less trouble with it and then you can try slowly decreasing the time between feedings. <----this is just what I would do given the info. ;)

It's always been five days. She was on one pinkie every five days for a while, then switched to two pinkies every five days after she was with me about a month. You suppose I should grab the smallest fuzzy I can find, and see about upgrading her?

That's totally what I was thinking, too. She might prefer the weekly schedule now.

Thanks so much!

Sometimes they do not eat as much when they are going into shed or "blue". Could that be why she is not eating?

She's not set for another shed for a week or two, and is still pretty bright-coloured. That was the first thing I wondered, too, though.

I have a few of mine that don't want to eat as early as a couple of weeks before they actually go blue. I would also suggest going to fuzzies every week instead of two pinkies every 5.
