I'm using Reptile Bark right now and I personally do not like it because it's too dusty and I get splinters when I spot clean >.< I'm going to use Aspen or Eco Earth next.

Lol that is the exact reason why i switched from repti-bark to eco earth

Well you don't know until you try right? :p How do you find the Eco Earth?

Way easier to clean, i like how it looks but still dusty when you put it in the viv. But it think most substrate is dusty when you put it in.
Ooh and my snake loves to burrow in it.

I developed an allergy to aspen, so I've switched to shredded newspaper for now. I really don't like it for one snake. My Grrr seems to have a very nutrient-rich poo because if I don't catch a poo soon enough, it molds in a day or two. He's the only one I have the problem with. So I check twice a day just to make sure.

I have been exploring the option of using the same earth mix I use for my box turtle, which consists of sand, peat moss, top soil, and sheet moss. I'm mildly worried about the sand part though.

Yeah, the sand could get stuck between the scales :/ I used aspen bedding for the first year, but I just hate how my snow looks on it. If it wasn't a display tank, I wouldn't care. She's tough enough to find the way it is, I don't need to aid her in blending to the viv. I used bark and I didn't have any problems per se (no splinters as mentioned). Eco Earth is more cost effective and she loves to burrow in it, just be careful not to let the humidity get too high.

I had the humidity problem too, now i open the bags a few days (or weeks) before using them.
