my snake is going to be shedding soon, his eyes are opaque so he cant see to well. well. . . today was feeding day and i didnt want him to go with out a meal, although i no they can go for a long time, so i decided to wack the mouse(i feed all my snakes live mice) so he would have to struggle (cause he couldnt see. bad or good idea?
ne wayz \
when we dropped the moouse in his feeding box , we could tell he could smell it but he didnt no where it was finally he lached on to the back end first
he swallowed the tail first instead of the head, me and my mom arent sure if this is good for the snake
wat do you guys think??????

fine

Sometimes my snakes eat the butt first too. Its a bit harder, but doesn't matter and won't hurt him :)

As bmm said, Although it takes a bit longer eating a prey item any other way than headfirst, it wont harm the corn at all.

I would say that it would be a good idea to feed all your snakes like this.

I'd agree with Neil,

although you can feed snakes live pinkies (as they have no teeth), it's not recommended for larger mice.

No matter how good your snake is at catching and killing them, mice can bite, and it seems unfair to give your snakes unneccessary injuries (which can be fatal) when pre-killed mice are just as good for them.

Also, the reason snakes eat things head first is that then the arms and legs neatly fold up meaning the prey goes down easier. So long as the snake can swallow it, it'll make no difference.

PS, I dont feed mine while they are shedding. Maybe you could try that method if you are worried about it.
