Not visually. You need to know what they came from. In some cases, this doesn't help either, and breeding trials will be the only way.

Amels are amelanistic. Ultra amels are not amelanistic.

And I feel stupid for having to think about this answer! LOL Of course they're not, the borders around the saddles are full of melanin. (Though to what degree?) :crazy02:
