Ultramel: sexual dimorphism or not?

ALL YOUR BASE
Since I hatched my first ultramels this year I am wondering. Is there any obvious difference in the adult coloration on ultramels? Like how male opals tend to have more color, etc? I want to keep one back, and I want to know if one sex or the other "screams" ultramel.

The babies all look more or less the same with some being a little darker than others. I haven't sexed any of them yet. All I know for sure is they look cool and I want to keep one. Much to the chagrin of my loving wife. :D

In Anery A it happens.. The females tend to get a bit darker with age.. I would imagine the same thing with Charcoal, and likely we will see it with Lavender ... The anery gene I have not noticed that in is caramel... Goldusts tend to look like goldusts regardless of sex..

Male ultramel anery..

Female

However, I would not base it completely on colouration trying to sex, as like any morph, they can drastically vary.. BEst to pop or prob them for sure..

Thanks Tim, I was asking really to decide what sex to keep for ME. Which one will look better. :D

I will of course pop them to sex them.

I may end up keeping a pair as I would like to see what Charcoal Gold Dust's look like.

And yes, that male is HOT!

Holy Moly, If I keep back a pair of these ultramels:

Female: Ultramel het Caramel, Charcoal

Phenotype:
9 / 64 Ultra 66% poss het. Charcoal, Caramel
9 / 32 Ultramel 66% poss het. Charcoal, Caramel
9 / 64 Amel 66% poss het. Charcoal, Caramel
3 / 64 Ultra, Charcoal 66% poss het. Caramel
3 / 32 Ultramel, Charcoal 66% poss het. Caramel
3 / 32 Gold Dust ( Ultramel, Caramel ) 66% poss het. Charcoal
3 / 64 Ultra Caramel ( Ultra, Caramel ) 66% poss het. Charcoal

THAT would be INSANE figuring out what is what!

I think I almost HAVE TO keep a pair back, just to see all the wacky looking snakes that come out.

I wonder how the heck you tell apart a gold dust from an ultra caramel?

From pictures, beats me, from looking at them face to face, beats me again.. Breeding trials I think is the accurate way... Heck, try telling the difference between a topaz and a goldust.. I don't see much of difference, at least in pictures..

My wife is gonna shoot me...
Dave, why not 1.2...??? :D ;)
That would statistically double the chances of everything....

And hide, lock up, or secure all the firearms and ammo.
(And do not tell her where you got the idea from. We live a little too close...LOL.)

In this thread, alone, I can see how it all starts. What was a pair...became a project.
Requiring an entire other heated and cooled building on one's property.....

The one photo of an ultra caramel at ian's vivarium looks darker than my gold dust by a LOT.
