These make for a really interesting morph. This one is het Lavender. Trying to get good pix of the eyes but it is really difficult, they are ruby colored.

These guys are very interesting. They look a lot like Amels, but when you look at their bellies they look a lot more like Hypos. It is going to be very interesting to see the morphs that we can create with these guys that will be between an Opal and Hypo Lav. An Ultramel Het Lav X Opal will be the ticket.

Here is a photo of a possible Ultramel Ghost. I did not realize it at the time when I got the email about a possible Ice Ghost look-a-like last year, but now that I know about Ultras and Amels being alleles, a lot of the mysteries of the past are becoming solved. This was a breeding of a Frosted Ghost X Snow. The Frosted Ghost was either an Ultra Ghost or Ghost het Ultra. Look at the snake in the center of the photo. It almost looks like a Snow, but when you look close, it is a very light Ghost. The breeder was calling it an Ultralite Ghost, which is a pretty darn good name, now that we know it is an Ultramel Ghost.

Ultralite Ghost

I like that name. Is the one on the right the adult picture of the hatchling in the center? I picked up one of the ultralite ghosts from Larry Keller. He calls them ruby-eyed ghosts. I agree this will be very interesting in the future. I also have a couple hypo het ultras. Hypo blood red ultras in a couple years I hope.

No, The adult picture is the Frosted Ghost that was bred to a Snow to produce the hatchling in the center of the clutch photo.

I know Larry Keller from way back, so I have another lead!

Cool

Please talk with Larry. I'm not sure if his rubyeyed snakes are the same as ultras. They sure look like ultramels. I remember at last years Midatlantic show he had a load of snakes that he called ruby-eyed that did not look like ultramels, but normal hypos (ultras?) with ruby eyes. This year I hit his both first looking gor the ultras, but got a rubyeyed ghost and rubyeyed hypo (ultramel). So in any case he has been working with the ruby-eyed for several years. I didn't speak to Larry, but I did speak to another guy at his both who didn't think they had bred the ultra to an amel.
