So I got my first snake a year ago, and my second corn about a month ago. I got them from The Corn Snakepit. At the time, the gentleman said that the Corn, Iskeirka, didn't need a warm side of the tank. But everything I saw on this site and others said otherwise.
So I got a warm pad that is put on one side of the cage. It's not something that is temperature controlled, but when I put my hand on it, it isn't burning hot or anything.
Anyway, Iskeirka never went to that side of the tank. She avoided it like the plauge. So eventually I turned off the pad all together.
I got my second snake, Butters, and he pretty much does the same thing. So what do you think? When I get my third snake, should I even try? I am a warm blooded creature, and like to keep my house in the upper 70's all year long. Plus, I live in the central valley of California, so it never gets very cold.
What do you guys use for heating elements?
