Hello to all of you out there that remember me. I've been away from the sight for a very long time. Anyway, check this out...I've got a really unheard of situation with a female corn. I have a very small (under 100 grams) female bloodred that is 2 years old. She has NOT been with ANY males (or other corns for that matter) for over a year. When I first got her I had her in with a few other random hatchling corns, but as I said she was only a hatchling back then. Anyway, I noticed egg follicles in her a month ago and I got a chuckle out of it. When the "follicles" continued to grow it became very apparent that they were actually eggs. At this point I was a little bummed because I figured she was gonna lay some slugs which can be hard on a very small undersized snake and I didn't want her to be harmed. Well today I found the eggs and they all "look" to be fertile. Now, I have heard of females retaining sperm from a previous years mating, but a corn barely larger than a hatchling? I am very suprised by this and the fact that another hatchling could have even bred her. Strange stuff. Maybe the eggs aren't fertile, but I've been breeding for a few years now and I am pretty confident that the eggs are fertile. White and dry, all stuck together in a clump. Doesn't sound like any slugs I've ever seen. Is it possible that slugs can look fertile but actually be slugs? Anybody with info on this can feel free to share. Thanks.
