viv backdrop

Depends on what kind of tank. I have a 20 gal. aquarium and found some nice designs in the fish section of Petsmart. Where I live, they sell it by the foot. I found a nice forest background that has a desert picture on the back (in case he gets bored with it LOL) Is that what you meant?

Ya i have a 20 gal long, call me crazy but I really didn't expect PETCO or Petsmart to have anything that interesting. I'm really hoping to find something pretty interesting online that I could order. Thanks for your contribution though :)

I just cut a piece of cardboard the same size as the piece of glass, and tape pictures to it. I find something I like, (a rock wall for instance), and take five verticle pictures overlapping the edges. Line the shot up in the middle, and move two frames to the left and then start taking pictures, (you might want to start with six shots until you get the hang of it). I then print them on my printer on regular paper, cut the edges off, then line them up on the board before taping. I guess you can do the same with pictures from magazines, internet, etc...

That actually a good idea. But I dunno if I wanna go through that much work :p If I would want it done right and look good (which would be the case) it would probably be a couple hour project since I haven't done it before. But if I did I don't think my parents would like it if I used their photo print paper :)

I don't use the photo print paper, it's expensive and too stiff to bend over the top and bottom edges...

You can order backgrounds online from That Pet Place.

Other things you can use include a black plastic garbage bag (if you are looking for just flat black), fabrics including terrycloth towels or cut fabric from a craft store. I have also used construction paper (hey, I keep most of my tanks at a SCHOOL! )

Just some ideas- most online fish suppliers will have backgrounds. It's not something I care to spend too much money on, so I will be using garbage bags and electrical tape this year- black tape for that "finished" look. ;)

our pet shop does a tank background that is about 1/2 inch think blacky brown colour and is designed to look like a rock face or bark.
It looks really really good against a bright snake.

Wrapping paper makes for some great backgrounds. And it's cheap! :wavey:

Found a background that goes inside the back of the viv. Looks like a rock wall.

There's a picture of it in the thread titled Urgent Help Required, started by Neyals (also in Husandry & Basic Care forum). IT A BIG PICTURE tho (still new: don't know how to link threads yet) :shrugs:
