Waiting for the experts

I know you experts will be by quickly to answer this and I apologize for being so ignorant but I never delve into genetics, just a few questions before I pick up my next corn on Feb 17th. I have an unknown amel that a breeder going to the manassas show in February (Northern Virginia) has agreed to sex for me. I bought it as a hatchling on 09/18/06. I know I can't breed until 3 years and 300 grams (as common parameters around here). However, I am curious as to what the difference between anerys (a + b), ghosts, pewters, and granites are. I know it has something to do with bloodred trait (the pewters and granite), but that's about all I know. And I'm clueless on ghosts. I just wanna know so when I get my next snake I know what to expect in generations 2 and so forth (as I know generation won't yield a high percentage of anything but normals (unless my amel and the next pickup have unknown hets). I am leaning more towards picking up a granite or pewter. Also any info on the genetics and traits of lavs would be appreciated (as this is the next in line of my favorites). Any info at all would be helpful. Thanks guys.

Oh and I forgot, I know I don't know much on breeding, hence why I am starting with hatchling so over the next three years I can talk to some breeders and do my research to prepare for my first projects. Thanks a lot guys.

God, I always forget to include everything in one post. Lastly, if my next pickup is stripe, I know that generation 2 and 3 would have some likelyhood of yielding stripe babies, correct? Unless again my amel is het for stripe which is highly unlikely seeing as I got it from petco.

Hello a Pewter is Anery B with the blood red trait, Granite is Anery A with blood red. Ghost is a hypo anery A. The differance between Anery A and B is like just a Differnt strain of it so they are not compatable.

The best place to go lurk and read would have to be www.cornguide.com. It's a site by Chuck Pritzel (wrote the Morph Guide) that explains everything to do with corn genetics. Best site there is. I'm not sure if Chuck has any of the 2006 guides available but 2007 will hopefully be out soon and there are bound to be the 2006 ones still out there.

Forego the morning coffee and purchase a copy of the Corn Morph book. It's worth 10 times the cost. Okay, maybe 5 :)
