Waking Up Snake

You guys must be sick of me by now. Anywho...

I never want to wake my snake when I need to fill his water bowl and stuff. Is it bad if you abruptly wake them up? Aside from them getting upset and maybe snapping.

Hi There!

Snakes don't sleep in the same way that mammals sleep, ie with their eyes closed etc etc...I think snakes "rest"... :)

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You will "disturb" your snake anytime you stick your hand in there, whether he is resting or not. He will get used to having your hand in his viv eventually.

I have a "grumpy" snake too, I just move extra slowly around him because I know he is jumpy and irritable...lol

Best of luck! :santa:

Personally I find this the best time to remove my nervous Corns from the viv.
If they are alert and moving around they may get upset when they see my hand coming. Often they will try to wrap their tails around a branch or a plant as I pull them out and will be upset and squirmy when picked up.

I find that if I lift their hide and immediately pick them up, they are much more calm and relaxed in the hand. You are holding them before they know whats happening... at least for me. YMMV

That's what I do. Nibblet's as gentle as can be.
