Ok. I was inspecting my vivs this moring and pooper-scooping etc when i found lots of little white insects on the poop I was about to remove....They seemd to be eating it...ewwww.Needless to say I removed the contents and replaced them with fresh orchid bark.These insects didn't seem to be on my snake nor around the cork log that she hides in.I have never seen them before today and they only seem to be in one viv.What are they?Could they be mites?She seems well and is eating,drinking,pooping and shedding as normal. :puke01:
 
I would also like to know about these as my tank has them but just in one place and has the same effect on my snake.
 
They could also be wood mites. They won't harm your snake. To get rid of them you'll need to wash the viv and the area surrounding it, and freeze all wooden substrate before you use it.
 
Snake mites (what I suspect you are worried about) are about the size of a period (.) and are black. These can be treated through various means, though should be taken very seriously. What you are describing sounds like an altogether different type of bug. I would recommmend quarantining your snake (read: placing in altogether seperate tank, bedding, hides, and in another room if possible) and disinfecting your current setup. Hopefully you can get rid of these bugs in one or two cleans and return your snakey to its primary abode :)

Note: Even if not physically harming your snake, be aware that any infestation can have nasty consequences re: contaminating their food, stressing them out, contributing excrement that can attract other nasties, etc.
 
They were white/light grey clolour and no bigger then the comma on this text.Never seen anything like it before.Made me wanna puke although the snakes don't bat an eyelid at them! lmao!Sorry pun intended!So as i'm in the uk does anyone have a bug remover that they can recommend me??And maybe a corn needing a good home{non~breeding} then gimme a shout please!!
