Well, I`m dead set on getting my first pet snake sometime within the next few weeks. Looked into it and decided i like the look and the nature of cornsnakes, even handled one (two actually, one 3foot adult and one 10" hatchling) and i`m rather looking forward to owning one of the splendid creatures.
I am, however, slightly stuck on names for the new pet. My first thought for a name was SIPHON.... works well maybe for Royal Pythons but Siphon the Cornsnake doesnt quite have the same ring to it. Then is thought CORNELIUS, but i noticed someone has already named their snake that. So , i was wondering, what have you called your snakes and why did you coose those names.

My Okeetee's name is Ciccilia, my girlfriend named her, but has a nice ring to it. Don't worry about using someone elses name, it's got to be a name that you like. Look at http://www.behindthename.com it has many ideas. Goodluck

Sully and Boo, off of Monsters Inc. and i agree with lyle, pick a name that you like, dont matter if somone else already has it.

Macy (Gray....ghost corn), Noodle (an amel stripe) and Pretzel cause he twists himself into pretzel shapes!
Pretzel has also had other names (Stan, Gobbolina and Ollie...his name changed every time my cousins came over but Pretzel stuck!)

My male anery is called Suzy, and he doesn't mind

pyro(he has orange zig zags on his side->fire-> pyro

amel corn:bright colers ->neon lights -> neo

hope this helps

I have a normal named Katie. My fiancee picked it out and it's a cute name that I thought suited her.

My snow motley is named Kassie, same reason as above.

I think you need to wait to get your corn to name it, because once you look at it and hold it you'll know what to call it!

heh rainey , thats pretty good advice actually :)
been asking around the gaming communities that i play in and a a few interesting responses at to what i should my snake.
from the grand prix legends racing community came the suggestion that i name after a motor-racing hero , Fangio got mentioned, which brought the following response -

<burtoner>Fangio, yer thats great, Fangio, snake fangs, geddit?
<blito> its a cornsnake, they dont have fangs as such
<burtoner> Then call it Gumio :p

the other interesting response came from the quake community, where one lad suggested Zétien in honour of the famed quake map designer ZTN .. quite like that one :)

Well,

I listed these once before so forgive me if you have read this and it's a repeat... but I love my slithery kids so here goes...

Thistle (she's a pretty pinkish snow that reminds me of fluff off the thistle flower), Fizz (a male snow thats really pink) and Fuzz (a yellowy snow). Valentine and Valentino (both hypo pink snows with little heart shapes on their heads). Inky the Anery (when I got her she was really black). Sunny the Amel (she's really orange). Punkin the Creamsicle (orange and so sweet), and Kissie (another creamsicle but named after Kissimmee Florida). Rusty, the Miami Corn (cause of his colors) and Ruby the Miami (after my daughter because I got her on the 21st anniversary of her death). Casper, the Ghost corn. and last but not least... Cornelia - the normal (but oh so exceptional) corn.

I also have hognose snakes Huggy (who's really clingy), Charlotte (a sweety), Elmo (such a little guy), Winky (only has one eye) and Pine Cone (cause he looks like a pine cone LOL)...

Have fun

Maisy is my Okeetee (after the Nick Junior Cartoon)
Boo is my AneryA (after the Monsters Ince kid)
and Zoe is my AneryA who is up in heaven right now

I may also be getting a couple rat snakes soon.... I have no idea what to name them, they're a couple (boy and girl) so I have ideas like peas and carrots, or pip and pop

Names

My first corn (ecsaped and probably dead :( ) was named Elaphe after the Latin name for the corn snake.
My new darling little Snow's name is Meinwen, which means 'White and slender' in Welsh.

Lyle,
I love Behind the Name, I have lists and lists of good names from there for my writing, that's where I found the name Meinwen.

The names of all my snakes are in my sig. The corn snake names are pretty normal, I would think. I named my balls Miss Cleo, and then Clinton, after the psychic and the president, because they have both been "less-than-honest" people at times. I thought it would be fun to play on the idea that most people think that snakes are bad, they call bad people "snakes," etc, we all know the stereotypes. I take pride in the fact that my herp children will never be dishonest, even with those forked tongues.

Our first snake was really my husband's amel. He pondered many names (some political figures but didn't want to disrespect the snake. LOL!) He ended up choosing Rosie (Suits her too.) Our next snake is a snow, so I named him Talini. (Inuit for snow angel.) I got a normal stripe for my birthday and I named her Brandie. (The colour fit, and we had to keep the "e" sound at the end of all our snakes names. Unfortunately, the more snakes I get, (oops, did I say I? I meant 'we' ;) ) the harder it will be to keep the trend going.
