What is on his nose?

Duke and Daniel

Duke is a 2.5 year old snow. He shed on 5/1. He loves to burrow - could this spot on his nose be from an injury from burrowing or is it something else? He is active and appears fine. He didn't eat the last time we offered but it had only been 8 days so that didn't surprise me. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Looks like a burrowing injury. He may have roughed up an area, then got some bark dust in it.

If he like to burrow, you probably want to switch him over to shredded aspen bedding. It's softer and easier for them to get a good burrow going.

You can get it at Walmart and Petsmart, just make sure to get regular Aspen, NOT pine or cedar.
