What should I breed with my Blizzard?

salvadorian

creatures are people too!
Hey everyone. I am looking to get a new female snake, as high-end as possible really, that would be nicely compatable with my blizzard. He's a great eater and already super white although he's only an '09.. he hardly has any white. I already have one female, who is a super nice amel whom i think is het anery, but i'm not sure because she's never been bred. So I'm asking, what would be the best new female snake for me to purchase to combine with the blizzard gene? I am asking this in terms of creating the most desireable snakes I can, and because it would be silly for me not to ask all of you out there with such wonderful opinions :)
I'm hoping to get this snake at the end of the summer, so I can't wait to hear your varied opinions!!!

Here's two pictures of my existing snakes... cause I'm a proud momma ;)

Well, if you are just looking at the first filial generation, f1, of offspring to get using a blizzard, the most you can get is what it already has...blizzard.

blizzard x blizzard = blizzard
blizzard x amel het charcoal = amels and blizzards
blizzard x charcoal het amel = charcoals and blizzards
blizzard x normal het amel, charcoal = normals, amels, charcoals, blizzards

blizzard x anything that doesn't have amel or charcoal = normals.

Alternatively you could throw ultramel in there, if you can find the right charcoal genetics with it.

blizzard x ultramel charcoal = blizzards and ultramel charcoals
blizzard x ultramel het charcoal = amels, ultramels, blizzards, and ultramel charcoals.

Now if you are interested in breeding your blizzard to something, then raising the f1 offspring and breeding them back to eachother to get something new in the f2 generation, then your possibilities are endless. It then becomes more of a matter of what do you want? You can add pretty much any morph(s) into it. You could add bloodred/diffused into the mix to get some whiteouts. You could add lavender into the mix to work towards a lavender/amel/charcoal combination, I'm not sure what that would look like...maybe something like lavender snows "snopals". You could add the stripe gene in if you want. etc...etc..

an example of adding bloodred/diffused:

f1. blizzard x bloodred = normals het amel, charcoal, bloodred

f2. normal het amel, charcoal, bloodred x same = normals, amels, charcoals, bloodred, blizzards, fires, pewters, whiteouts.

Or you could add multiple traits, to create multi-het offspring to breed back to eachother and create even more. You can play around with a cornsnake calculator and find all sorts of combos. http://www.corncalc.com/

Just note that adding certain things might make it difficult to tell babies apart when it comes time. For instance, adding anery you may have issues differentiating if a f2 offpspring has charcoal, anery, or both, particularly if it is also amel. Likewise, adding hypo you may have difficulty telling if a snake has hypo or not if the snake is also amel. etc...

1. Yes, I am sure that he's a blizzard.

2. zgirl: thank you for the info! i think i am going to get a bloodred. i love them sooo much, they're gorgeous, and they have the best possibilities!

You might think about a pewter (bloodred + charcoal), especially one het amel, which would give you charcoals and blizzards het for bloodred (no normals).

Or get a bloodred that is het for amel and/or charcoal. Which gives you the possibility of normals, charcoals, amels, and maybe blizzards (if you get one with both hets).

If it were me, I'd get something with at least 2 genes, not amel or charcoal though. Then you could make quad (or more) hets and 3 years later, breed the resulting babies back to each other to make some cool snakes. :D

For example, if you bred him to a ghost (and got normals het amel, anery, charcoal and hypo) and then bred the babies together:

Male: Normal het Amel, Anery, Charcoal, Hypo

Female: Normal het Amel, Anery, Charcoal, Hypo

Phenotype:
27 / 256 Charcoal 66% poss het. Anery, Amel, Hypo
27 / 256 Anery 66% poss het. Amel, Charcoal, Hypo
27 / 256 Amel 66% poss het. Anery, Charcoal, Hypo
81 / 256 Normal 66% poss het. Anery, Amel, Charcoal, Hypo
27 / 256 Hypo 66% poss het. Anery, Amel, Charcoal
9 / 256 Anery, Charcoal 66% poss het. Amel, Hypo
9 / 256 Snow ( Amel, Anery ) 66% poss het. Charcoal, Hypo
9 / 256 Blizzard ( Amel, Charcoal ) 66% poss het. Anery, Hypo
9 / 256 Ghost ( Anery, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Amel, Charcoal
9 / 256 Phantom ( Charcoal, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Anery, Amel
9 / 256 Hypo Amel ( Amel, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Anery, Charcoal
3 / 256 Platinum ( Anery, Charcoal, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Amel
3 / 256 Coral Snow ( Amel, Anery, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Charcoal
1 / 256 Powder ( Amel, Anery, Charcoal, Hypo )
3 / 256 Snow, Charcoal ( Amel, Anery, Charcoal ) 66% poss het. Hypo
3 / 256 Blizzard, Hypo ( Amel, Charcoal, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Anery

BANG!!

This is a fun way to breed your own morphs.

OR, for even more fun... buy a bloodred ghost (a little more expensive, but worth it IMO) to get some normals het bloodred, anery, hypo, amel and charcoal... breed those together:

Male: Normal het Amel, Anery, Charcoal, Diffused, Hypo

Female: Normal het Amel, Anery, Charcoal, Diffused, Hypo

Phenotype:
81 / 1,024 Charcoal 66% poss het. Anery, Amel, Diffused, Hypo
81 / 1,024 Diffused 66% poss het. Anery, Amel, Charcoal, Hypo
81 / 1,024 Anery 66% poss het. Amel, Diffused, Charcoal, Hypo
81 / 1,024 Amel 66% poss het. Anery, Diffused, Charcoal, Hypo
243 / 1,024 Normal 66% poss het. Anery, Amel, Diffused, Charcoal, Hypo
81 / 1,024 Hypo 66% poss het. Anery, Amel, Diffused, Charcoal
27 / 1,024 Anery, Charcoal 66% poss het. Amel, Diffused, Hypo
27 / 1,024 Pewter ( Charcoal, Diffused ) 66% poss het. Anery, Amel, Hypo
27 / 1,024 Fire ( Amel, Diffused ) 66% poss het. Anery, Charcoal, Hypo
27 / 1,024 Snow ( Amel, Anery ) 66% poss het. Diffused, Charcoal, Hypo
27 / 1,024 Granite ( Anery, Diffused ) 66% poss het. Amel, Charcoal, Hypo
27 / 1,024 Blizzard ( Amel, Charcoal ) 66% poss het. Anery, Diffused, Hypo
27 / 1,024 Ghost ( Anery, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Amel, Diffused, Charcoal
27 / 1,024 Phantom ( Charcoal, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Anery, Amel, Diffused
27 / 1,024 Hypo Amel ( Amel, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Anery, Diffused, Charcoal
27 / 1,024 Hypo Diffused ( Diffused, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Anery, Amel, Charcoal
9 / 1,024 Whiteout ( Amel, Charcoal, Diffused ) 66% poss het. Anery, Hypo
9 / 1,024 Avalanche ( Amel, Anery, Diffused ) 66% poss het. Charcoal, Hypo
9 / 1,024 Anery Pewter ( Anery, Charcoal, Diffused ) 66% poss het. Amel, Hypo

9 / 1,024 Hypo Granite (Ghost Bloodred) ( Anery, Diffused, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Amel, Charcoal
3 / 1,024 Quartz ( Amel, Anery, Charcoal, Diffused ) 66% poss het. Hypo
9 / 1,024 Snow, Charcoal ( Amel, Anery, Charcoal ) 66% poss het. Diffused, Hypo
3 / 1,024 Powder ( Amel, Anery, Charcoal, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Diffused
9 / 1,024 Fire, Hypo ( Amel, Diffused, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Anery, Charcoal
9 / 1,024 Blizzard, Hypo ( Amel, Charcoal, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Anery, Diffused
3 / 1,024 Coral Avalanche ( Amel, Anery, Diffused, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Charcoal
3 / 1,024 Whiteout, Hypo ( Amel, Charcoal, Diffused, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Anery
3 / 1,024 Anery Pewter, Hypo ( Anery, Charcoal, Diffused, Hypo ) 66% poss het. Amel
1 / 1,024 Quartz, Hypo ( Amel, Anery, Charcoal, Diffused, Hypo )

Note the best way to do this: keep a group of your babies back to grow up and breed. I like a 1 male to 4 female ratio. Of course then you have to feed a bunch of snakes for 3 years. BUT, nothing is more fun than hatching your own cool morphs!

Hmm... maybe I need to get a bloodred ghost! :D

Obviously!

I dont really like white snakes, though i do own a pair of snow stripes, so if i were you, id buy a plasma, or a hypo plasma, and wait out the 3 years for some baby x baby lovin!

well i love white corns, and i still doubt is a blizzard that one . anyway you can work alot with that snake as they shown you .

Well, if my snake isn't a blizzard, something incredible happened in the breeding between his parents, and I overpayed for him. He's less than a year old, so he still has pattern.

Why do you say that you don't think he's a blizzard?

And as for the rest of it all.....

Anyone have a female bloodred, bloodred ghost, pewter, or ghost that they would be willing to sell me? Age is no issue, she can be older than my blizzard. I would especially prefer snakes that are good, aggresive eaters, as Apollo is, but that's no issue really.
Also, how much should all of these morphs cost individually?
