My boyfriend is complaining he doesnt have a building project to work on so Im giving him one. I want tobuild a snake enclosure that looks like a piece of furniture....similar to the snake pantry I made...but it needs to be stained and sealed because itllbe wood.

I didnt use wood last time cause the pantry was melamine.

I am redoing the office and want to center it around the snake cage.

Any ideas?

I had my husband make a new edging for a tank that the plastic was old and worn. He used regular stain and polyurethane and we left the tank outside for about a week give or take, till all of the smell was gone. Every couple days I would go outside and stick my head in the tank and take a big sniff. I have to say it took about a month to do just that edge because of my perfectionist husband kept sanding and polyurethaning.

shelaqe works great too- its for projects, comes in cans or spray, and its nontoxic when it dries ( and it dries quickly)- plus, it gives a nice light golden finish ( not super strong)
