When do you consider a snake underweight

I just recently bought a snake from a very well known Colorado company that was a July 2014 hatch. Upon arrival I was suprised at its size, a whopping 9g. It looks healthy enough but being that it will eventually be a breeding female I was a bit taken aback. I've had hatchlings that are 9gm after a couple meals. I know hatch dates are the norm but does anyone else think a 10 month old 9gm female should have had weight noted???

I have gotten a few 6-8 months old that's been at similar size... I was surprised as well.. it seems like they put them on maintenance and slow growth... Mine are catching up to the rest now and are doing well so I don't think it's anything you have to worry about..

I get that feeding is standardized at these big operations, I just wish her being a 'higher end" gal they could have maybe doubled up on her feed schedule. She just had a pinkie and looks like a boa that ate a piglet. I'm trying to put myself in their shoes but I'm thinking I would price a 9g and a 20 something gram (which she 'should' be) a bit different -oh well, it will all end well eventually....
