when should i buy a terrarium?

I got mine and had it setup before I got my snake. That way I could make sure all that everything worked, that temperatures were right, and held steady over several days.

Though, I don't see why you couldn't buy one when you buy the snake, as long as you get it set up correctly before you put the snake in.

Like a lot of others, I set my tank up in advanced. It was/is my first snake so I wanted to make sure everything was alright. I would recommend setting up first to monitor your heat, hopefully you have a thermostat? I was also anxious for my little guy to get here so I had to set it up. :D

You can do like I did and buy the stuff that I needed in increments. I got the tank, then next payday I got the thermostat and flexxwatt, then got stuff for the interior, etc. Worked out well for me.

From having bought a tank and the animal at the same time, and having bought and set up a tank before the animal arrives, I would vote for the second of those two options.

I would feel that at least a week would be preferred. It just is a lot easier to set up a tank without the animal in there, and it gives me plenty of time to find problems and correct them.

Also, depending upon the tank size, it allows me to find a good place for it in the room. It isn't like I just had a 3' x 1.5' flat surface open and reading for a big ol' tank.
