White Corn

Hi guys,

Just a question. A local specialist reptile shop is selling what they call White Corns. Cost is the same as for their Silver Corns.

The snake (which I haven't seen, will go and have a look tomorrow) is pure white, with red eyes, no patterning whatsoever. Sounds like a Blizzard, but why not call it that then? Does any other kind of pure white corns exist?

Also, are albinos (all the varieties) more sensitive to disease, their surroundings etc than "normal" corns? Albinos in other species seem to be.

Thanks for any advice/ideas.

No, albinism (in all its forms) seems to have no adverse affect on corns (or ther reptiles, for that matter) in captivity. In the wild they do not propigate themselves often, because they are more easily preyed upon due to their odd coloration.

As to white corns. Yes, it does sound like a blizzard. However, I would caution you not to expect a truly patternless snake even when seeing an actual blizzard. Almost all of them have detectable pattern showing in the white. Some of them have failry bright lemon-yellow rings on the white background.

Let us know what you find at that shop!
