Who's mice breed better in cooler conditions?

Yeah I'd like to know how everone's mice and rats breed under cooler conditions. I've heard they do better but would like to hear from others and see what the majority is. So do yours do better, worse, or does it effect them at all? Rats and mice.
Thanks,

Mine do much better in cooler conditions from what I've noticed. One of these days I need to start out colonies from scratch and tally up how many mice are born on each month. It'd be interesting for sure.

Usually when autumn hits, I'll double the amount of babies I normally have, with the same mice.

I think the heat puts a strain on the females, so they limit the number of babies they have. Plus, there's nothing warmer than a pile of babies, so maybe that has something to do with it as well.

Thanks guys,

I've heard that they do better in the cooler weather than in the heat. This will be my first winter breeding mice so I hope all goes well. I'll be keeping them in the garage with allot of bedding and when it gets really chilly I'll set up a heater so they don't get too cold. What is a good winter temp to keep them at? Thanks again

Can't say from experience, since I didn't have my mice and rats last winter. I've read that temperatures of 68-72 F are ideal. Another source listed a temperature range of 64-79 F. Of course, those are the ideal temps, not the min and max. Maybe a couple of the mice gurus can tell you more based on their experience.

My garage alternated between 50-70, usually depending on whether I'd just pulled my car in or not. =)

i dont think our weather conditions are as vast as they are in the states, but mine are always in a garage. They seem to breed pretty well all year round.
i guess our temps go from -10 upto about 37/38 degrees celcius.
