Worms In The Viv

Ok, today I came home and was looking in the Viv only to find two worms that look brown in color and have a pattern that is consistant from end to end. One of the worms went up to my corn and looked like he was doing something to my corn. My corn
moved away as it seemed irritated. It has been three weeks since my corn has eaten PLEASE HELP ME !! WHAT SHOULD I DO ?
 
Well, to start, remove the worms and get rid of them. Then take your snake out and put it in a temporary enclosure while you thoroughly clean and disinfect the viv and any "furniture" you have in it. Figure out how worms got in there - could they have crawled in, or were there worm eggs in there?

About the feeding... how old is your corn? It's much more serious for a hatchling to go three weeks without food than it is for an adult. If it's an adult who has fed fine in the past, you don't have to worry yet. If it's a hatchling who hasn't eaten yet, there are lots of tricks you can try to get it feeding. They've been posted and discussed many times in this part of the forum, so look through it to find them. Try frozen/thawed and live pinkies. Try brained pinkies. Try feeding in a small paper bag (closed and sealed). Try just the head of a pinkie. Try scenting the pinkie with a green anole... and so on.
 
I have tried ALL of the above suggestions and none have worked, about the only thing I have not tried is force feeding.

As far as the worms go I have no idea how they got in there, I was going to clean the VIV tonight but what do I use as a disinfectant ?
 
You can use a bleach solution. Just don't use too much bleach, and RINSE, RINSE, RINSE! Rinse very thoroughly, as you don't want your snake breathing in bleach fumes. Remember to do the same to any furniture you have in there and completely replace the substrate.
 
Worms? As in earth worms? Yeah, Kate is right, DISINFECT!! You can use a weak bleach solution or sprays designed for reptiles.

If your snake is an adult, don't worry too much about its unwillingness (is that a word?) to eat.
 
:eek:worms eugh!! :eek: time for some serious cleaning a good solution for bleach water is 2:40 parts water and that is 2 capfulls of bleach!! be very sure that ur viv is nice and clean b4 u put ur snake back in there

and as for the not eating bit dont over pressure ur snake into eating.

i just got a corn two weeks ago and it would not eat bbut bmm told me to make a cut on the pinkys head till some blood comes out and my snake took it 30 seconds after i put down the feeding box oh yah put him in a small box and dont put them in glass or plastic container or they try and get out well mine does i hope this helps
 
ARe you using soil as bedding or a wooden substrate? It sounds as though you are using earth of some sort for worms to be there.
 
I am using aspen pine shavings as my bedding that I got from the rep shop. And these are not earth worms they are very small and hella fast!
 
I am absolutly gobsmacked! I have never heard of worms in aspen. All I can suggest is what has been said before, clean and disinfect. Good luck. I hope you get the little buggers.
