you need to see this ....

Well.....it said there were several animals found dead from lack of proper care. Maybe...but the animals they displayed were perfect. Even the "albino corn snake" (which was actually a Lavender Motley). Interesting. This is why the people I know locally, have know idea I have snakes.

I agree. I saw nothing out of the ordinary in the way of reptiles that would indicate that they need "specialized" care. The ones that they showed looked healthy. They probalby want the pets for themselves. If they are trying to make a case for animal cruelty then they are doing a poor job because none of those animals looked neglected or mistreated.

Are they really complaining about 'lab housing' and 'plastic containers'? How do they think breeders take care of hundreds of animals? Just because the house was 'dirty' doesn't necessarily mean they were being improperly cared for (yes, I know they said there were some dead ones, but come one, I have 2 dead snakes in my freezer that died of natural causes, it happens lady!!). All of the animals they showed looked healthy, conditions couldn't have been too bad...

Oh, and I don't think Humane Societies ever adopt out reptiles. The one in the hometown of an ex of mine seized a burm from a house, and my ex called me to see if I'd take it (and I was going to), but then he called me back to tell me that it wasn't going to be available for adoption. I think thats bull (did you hear her say that they don't recommend any reptiles as pets?).

Okay, I'm done, or I might just get angry.

Oh I SOOOO want that lav motley ... I was like Albino?!?!?!? WHAAAAAAT?!?!?!? Oh and We DON'T recommend them as pets part UGH!!!!!

I posted that link here last night in the man bites python thread. I felt the same way and was pissed they aren't adopting them out. All the animals were chubby and looked well cared for- not to mention that retarded women didn't even know what an amelanistic corn snake looked like. I sent them a nasty e-mail last night I know they are going to euthanize those animals which is a real shame. I love her reptiles aren't the best pets comment how exactly does she know this? Oh and the lab housing first of all whats wrong with lab housing and second of all who the hell lets there reptiles free roam the house like a dog? That report makes me sick:(

Hallie, Ours do. I am one the list at 2 shelters here they will call me if they get anything they WON'T adopt out to people who don't have other reps tho.

Interesting...I'll have to check out ours and see if they'd do something like that (although I'm not a huge fan of them...I couldn't adopt a dog because my strictly indoor cat didn't have her rabies shot that she isn't required to have in PA, and I couldn't give it to her, it had to be a vet, at a cost of over $50 for the vaccine and visit.....), although we do have a reptile rescue in Erie, so I'm guessing that most things go there (and the lady who runs it keeps most of the things that come in).

The humane society here doesn't deal in reptiles either. What they do is place the animals in a special reptile rescue group that brings the animals back to health and then looks to adopt them out.

It didn't sound like they were going to euthanize them, she said they were working with herpetologists to place them with reptile organizations.
