Your worst looking eggs that actually hatched?

Last week wasnt a good one. My wife was in the hospital for six days. All the running from work to the house and to the hospital wasnt a lot of fun. To make a long story short, one of my girls laid eggs when I wasnt there. I checked on her wednesday night and all was fine. Thursday I didnt get home until 11:00 and fell asleep on the couch. When I got home at four oclock on friday there were 16 eggs shriveling up in her lay box. She had pushed all of the moss to one end and layed the eggs on the dry end. I assume she probably layed them thursday morning. This is this girls first clutch, and all of the eggs looked pretty small to begin with. I put them in damp moss and into the incubator as soon as I found them. They seem to have plumped up pretty good, but are not even close to the pretty white color of my other clutch. If anyone has had good results with a clutch like this I sure would like to know.

You'd be amazed.

I've had a clutch which were all stuck together, a couple didn't make it, collapsed and moulded over .... then got a bug infestation. Didn't look good at all but I think 4 of the 11 still hatched just fine .... 1 fully developed but dead.

Gave the hatchlings a bath to take care of any bugs and they were all fine.

I've also missed a clutch in the tank when I was new to the whole egg procedure and the must have been in there for a day or two and got pretty died out and still managed to hatch with about a 50% success rate.

All you can do is leave them in the incubator, maintain it well and hope for the best ....

Thanks for the reply Colin. I checked on the eggs last night. One is definatly good. I'm hoping for around 50% sucess on the others. I have them in the incubator with some that are on day 44. They sure look small next to the older ones. It is amazing how much they have grown. Wont be long now!
