Bill was there. He said almost everyone at the show got a written warning (but not a ticket). It is really stupid. They want you to bring breeding records, or proof that you bought from somebody who has a license. I am not sure if they are checking to see if you got a vet cert for bringing them into the state. This has been a rule for quite a while, but not usually enforced. One FWC guy told me you just needed a hatch date. I guess the proof needed depends on the particular officer and what he wants to see. Just bring a bunch of records and be prepared to show them a few if they ask. If you don't have one for a particular animal, just show them something that looks complicated enough to "dazzle them with B.S.", lol!
I think the whole reason is that they want us to do THEIR job - check that sellers have permits before buying from them. They are making it more difficult each year. Always good to discourage business in a recession - way to go! Maybe we can add a few more people to the unemployment lines!
