When she is coiled is she more like to strike?

When i lift her hide place shes coiled and seems really jumpy and keeps a good eye on my hand but when she isnt all coiled shes better.. How do i get her from being coiled? Shes still a baby but when she grows older will she still be like that?

She is just alarmed when you reveal her in her hiding spot. Kinda like if someone walks in on you in a dressing room. When she is coiled she can most of her body, when she is stretched out she probably can't. The key is to pick her up swiftly yet gently. When I first got my babies they seemed a little defensive when I went to pick them up, but they get over it. Don't be afraid to scoop her up, the more you hesitate the more nervous she will get. Does this make sense?

Yeah it makes sense.. I hesitate to pick her up because i feel she will strike at me.

If she strikes at you it's no big deal. My Attitude (a 2009 baby) has bitten me any number of times, it really doesn't hurt at all when they are little. I haven't gotten tagged by an adult yet so can't comment on that. I just pick up 'Tude anyway gently but quickly & at first I got got, now, not so much. I think Attitude's bad attitude is starting to mellow a little.

Just put your hand in there and take it like a man. It will be a good learning experience for both you and the snake. Neither of you will be harmed by the experience. :grin01:
