Company With GOOD Shipping Prices?

ShenziSixaxis

Sticking To The Ceiling
So I've looked at three companies online at their fuzzy mice and their prices and shipping. Simply to say, I don't like them very much. Right now, I don't mind buying mice from the store for a lot more than online places have 'cause shipping is freakin' ridiculous.

Check the attachment for the document please?

Rodent Pro and MiceDirect are off in the east while the Mouse Factory is in Texas. None of them are near Nevada, or even in California. Shipping from California or any states near NV would probably be cheaper, but I dunno.

So does anyone know of a place (probably near Nevada, USA) that has better shipping prices or should I just keep buying them from the pet store?

Thanks. I'm emailing them 'cause they don't really say where they're located and this line..
Live orders may be picked up at our facilities located in Texas. We do have a $25.00 minimum order amount for facility pick-ups. We do have additional restrictions for this service, please contact our sales office for further information.

..makes me think they may be located in Texas as well. They also don't have a little thing to give you a quote.

Any other suggestions?

You might try LLLReptile.com. You can get 50 for $45 shipped, which is pretty reasonable. I believe they are located in California, so you may be able to go to a physical store. :)

^ I checked it out and that's still quite I bit. I don't exactly have a lot of money to blow all at once... it might not hurt to get a bag of 100 or something like that, but I have no idea how long my corn will be on these, and I don't wanna be giving my cat expensive treats he may or may not eat (he never eats any fancy, wet, or treat cat food we get him; he doesn't even like fish half the time o_O).

I'll definitely consider that one though. It's got one of the better prices I've seen and I might be able to pull some strings since they're close. And that place offers a lot more than frozen mice.. hmm..

Not sure if this helps but Loxahatchee (sp?) Hatchery (FL) has some "promo" prices on kingsnake right now...100 fuzzies for $50 including shipping. Cheap enough for me to email them for a quote for a larger order, and my quote was 30% cheaper than their website prices. I haven't ever purchased from them, but at least they vacuum seal their mice!

I use Americanrodent. Nevada os actually one of the states where you would have to pay for shipping. but the also have other things than mice and rats. Might be worth checking it out. In the state I am from (WI) if I order more than $100 worth my shipping is free.... just throwing it out there as something you could check out? :) Good luck in your search!

Who supplies your pet store with mice? Do they have a good reputation? I buy online because that way I KNOW where the mice come from. The Mouse Factory has some premium mice, and I buy from them for this reason. I don't really save much money when i buy online. I guess I save a little...

I just ordered 50 large pinkies and 50 fuzzies for $70 shipped. At the local store, I would pay $1 for the pinkies, and who knows what for the fuzzies (never priced fuzzies locally).

So in the end, I would pay at least $100 (plus tax) for 100 pinkies locally. This is a 30% savings, and that includes the $40 of shipping.

That being said, I have a FoodSaver vacuum sealer, so I can let my food sit in the freezer for a year...it may be better for you to buy them 1 at a time locally...just be sure the mouse breeder who supplies them is doing it right.

Yeah, it looks great, but the minimum amount to purchase is $100 worth. I only have ONE snake. Maybe I'll use it if I ever get another corn or when my one is big and on adult mice and isn't demanding as much food right now.

One pet store gets Arctic Mouse, I believe it is. It comes in a blue box with one or two bags with a few mice in it. The other brand, I don't know; the mice come in not-so-nice bags, and are a bit expensive (three bucks for a single pinkie? Yeahhhhhh....). The third store, I have no clue. They have their mice individually frozen, and you get however many you want, and get the choice of different sizes instead of what comes in a box.

I've been considering bothering my mom to get that vacuum seal so I could buy mice in bulk from a local store or even online, but my main concern is, besides my snake growing too fast, the mice spoiling.

When you only have one snake its hard to order online because of minimum orders and shipping. You have to remember you are not just paying to send it to you you also pay for special packaging like dry ice. Now if you add say 2 or 3 more (enabler alert lol) then it might sound reasonable lol! I currently have 8 snakes and just ordered about 550 or 600 mice lol! Mind I have freezer space available too. And I never know when I will add one more to the collection, case in point being the expo in April rofl!

With the prices you gave us and the shipping included, the mice are going to cost you about 0.75 each. That is still way less then you are getting from the pet store. Shipping is what it is, your pet store is paying the same shipping cost and passing them on to you. So you are still paying the shipping plus paying the pet store their profit as well.

I would buy them from the Mouse Factory because I know the have high quality mice and wonderful service. Buy 50 or 100 mice and if you have to throw half of them away a year from now you are still money ahead. Plus you no longer have the hassle of trying to get to the pet store every week.

wade, i think the trip to the petstore might not cost any gas money, as our new lil buddy rides his bike there (or sometimes takes a nice leisurely stroll), so don't factor that cost to the equation

I could do that, or I can just ask my mom. :nyah:

But I'm also trying to save money for a new desktop, and spending a lot of money all at once bugs me. However, I'm getting close saying "screw the computer" and wait until I can get a job (in about a year).
And I'm female!

Problem is you simply need more Snakes! then with more snakes you will need more feeders. Then you will have the need to order bulk and the shipping will not seem so bad, lol!!!. I have 65 snakes, and just got my order of 1,800 dead rodents for $320 plus $ 100.00 for shipping...couldn't imagine the total cost if I bought those 1,800 rodents at a pet store.
Hurry!!!! get more snakes!! lol!!

Wade never mentioned anything about money...he said hassle. Riding bikes and walking are great exercise activities...but if you don't have to go to the pet store every week with $3 for a single pinky...I would consider that an improvement to the current situation.

Order them online in bulk, and if you throw away half of them from freezer burn, like Wade said, you are still ahead of the game. Maybe your mom can front you the cash for the mice. How is she with math? A piece of paper and pencil will quickly show the cost savings.

At $3 per pinky, the online order is 1/4 the cost.

Remember, at The Mouse Factory, I pay $70 for 100 mice (shipped). Locally, you would pay $300 for 100 mice, and have to walk miles upon miles to make it happen.

There are cheaper mouse options online, but I can't recommend any of them. I have only used The Mouse Factory. Lots of people here who have used many different mouse breeders talk highly of The Mouse Factory. They tend to have a higher quality product from what I have read (hear-say).

There arent any movie theatres in Nevada?
Or even any toilets that need scrubbing?
Or children that need watching?
Grass that needs mowing?
Dogs that need walking?

I don't know if it has been mentioned in this thread, but if you don't like shipping costs, there is another way. I, most of the time, breed my own feeders. Recently I have been having a bit of bad luck doing this. My freezer where I kept the majority of my frozen stock, crapped out. Two of my colonies began cannibalizing their babies and a few colonies went on winter breeding hiatus. I have been a little short on feeding stock. So I began buying rodents from Rodentpro.

I too, didn't like the shipping prices. Breeding your own is soooo much cheaper. So I went on Craigslist and placed an ad, looking for someone in my area to split the shipping cost with me. I got two takers. Since I made the query, I found out what they wanted, I paid for the order and shipping to my house. That way if one of them backed out, I had the feeders in hand and could either use them or sell them to recoup my monies. Fortunately, that didn't happen.

So what turned out to be over $50 in shipping, was split three ways and I only paid about $17 plus the cost of my feeders. I ordered over 400 feeder animals and I am happy as a pig in sh**.......... a shed. The two guys that placed the order with me are equally as happy and can't wait to do it again.

Just a thought!

yeesh, i just bought a New computer here recently that is way cheaper than my next order of rodents.

A note about breeding your own, you trade the cost of shipping or putting money in a petshops pocket for extra work and stink, just a thought.

I had too much trouble keeping enough mice from my 4 trios for 3 snakes, just 3!!! Gave up processed all the mice I had then ordered a bunch from Rodentpro. Might try another place when I need more, I have a notebook I use to keep track of experiences with stuff I use and put a review of my experiences so far in it about rodentpro. After I have actually fed some of the new mice I will share my review (still have a couple meals each snake from my home raised).
