June 3rd my One female laid these eggs, i noticed something was very wrong, 3 duds? Not even whole shells, the rest of the eggs Came out odd. very few (maybe 3) came out perfect, i noticed one clearly didn't have ANY shell (even removing it from the lay box was causing a bit of Goo to spill out) i took damp paper towel and did a pack job on it. i noticed 2 more Also had no shell but the very Fine "egg skin" i very very carefully removed the eggs in to another bin, All had been fertile, sadly within the next week i noticed this wasn't going to be good, the BAD smell of rotten eggs filled the air, Mold started to grow on the bottom left eggs. and my one egg with the paper towel on it..was Molding.. i cleaned the eggs up again and again and i said that i was going to leave them alone and see what happens, i noticed the one egg broke open today and you could see the babies sack, i wanted to remove the rotten eggs when i did it broke open, No photos of that but there was a "Worm" sized snake with eyes so it was fertile at some point, i do have other eggs like it, you can see the veins inside the egg, they still look ok.
i have 2 pair of eggs, that are Whole there not stuck, its a whole egg, very odd to see what happens

WARNING PHOTOS ARE OF A FERTILE EGG THAT HAVE BURST AND ROTTEN/ODD EGGS

I'm not sure I would either. Poor girl, perhaps she has an infection that caused issues with the clutch? Maybe a vet visit to be sure she is ok?

Whats the odd thing is she is Perfect, Took every meal was way pass 300 grams, she is a big girl, Always eating well and healthy, i checked her over and there really isn't a reason for such bad eggs. :shrugs: i could have been lied to by the breeder and i bet she is much older then i was told, is the only thing, Wouldn't surprise me because when i got her from the breeder i found out he Buys and sell animals in really bad shape, but i had blood test and other test ran on her she cleared everything, she should be Having good full eggs. i Hope the babies come out ok...:nope: have a feeling there are going to be some tears shed on this cluch.

It's possible that she just had problems producing enough calcium for the eggs, which would make her very bad for breeding. :C I really hope the babies come out ok, though I would prepare for some deaths.

Oh its highly possible that she is fine, just older than thought. I only mentioned the possible infection (which would be in her reproductive tract if there was one) because there is a vet with a theory that many bred females that produce slugs may do so because of infection at the time of breeding. So it was just a thought.

I would also recommend having your vet do a culture of her uterus to rule an infection. If that's that case then a round of antibiotics may get her into shape for breeding next year.

I find this interesting. I have encountered this with a couple of females this year. One with a perfect breeding history up to this point and 2 others who are first time females. The two first timers I am going to supplement there feedings next spring with some dusted mice and see if that helps.
I would not not breed a female if this only happened one time. The females all appear fine. Good weight and tone, appetite etc.
I have a friend who dusts his feed for his pythons and he claims it helps. My vet said there is not enough empirical evidence to make her think yea or nay. Next year will be the tell all. These same ones slug out then they will be retired and moved to pet status.

Male was perfect in breeding with all my other females and make wonderful babies, i just think she is older then i was told. She is fine too, just a Older snake.

That's odd! It reminds me of when I was a child, and we had ducks. One year, the females ALL started laying shell-less eggs--just the membranes without the hard outer shell.

It turned out that all of these free-ranging ducks were ingesting large amounts of some kind of chemical that the lumber company office across the street had sprayed into their pond (the pond that our ducks crossed a busy highway to get to a couple of times a day) to kill mosquitos....

I don't know why the chemical caused the ducks to lay eggs like that. Perhaps it leached the calcium out of their systems? Maybe your snake might need calcium, too? I'm new to snakes, so I don't know. It's just a thought.

The good news is that, after that one year, Crown Zellerbach never sprayed the pond again, and the ducks never again laid shell-less eggs. With any luck, your snake won't have that problem again, either.

That has happened to me a few times . normaly it was a odd one to 4 eggs in a clutch. The problem is they did not get a good amount of calcilum from the female when the eggs were forming inside the female. I'm sure you will get good clutches from the female in futer years. Is it her first time breeding ???? I have had this hasppen to good breeding females. Was she at good weight w\hen you bred her?

Ok, ok, I can't keep my stupid mouth shut, lol. And I know I'm gonna regret this but...

Why does it not surprise me that your snakes had possible calcium deficiencies, Vinman? Still feeding them chicken?

No, I'm not having any problems like that this year with my eggs. All my eggs came out with goods shells . This has happened to me throughout the years every now and then. I remember it happened to me twice to 2 different clutches where only one or two eggs were shelled good. I have also had eggs hatched that were improperly shelled with enough calcium .

Yes I'm still feeding them 85% chicken diet and my eggs are all bright white. I never had a problem with shelling when feeding chicken

So I try to be nice give some good info and you take a cheap shot. I really agree with what you wrote. Remember you said it not me !!!!!

Ok, ok, I can't keep my stupid mouth shut

i was told she was someones pet, Never bred, could be that is is older, but never Laid eggs, so her system still needs some time to make whole eggs?

When did you obtain her. Maybe she was not treated right before you got her. Maybe she just laid a bad clutch or she is old
