Keeper of scaley things.
So we came home from Repticon yesterday with two new corn snakes. One anery female and one Kitsune male (i know i spelled that wrong). Both very nice metalic coloring to them. Buttttt the male escaped sometime durig the night. :headbang:

So what types of places have you guys found your escapee's in?

Oh, that sucks! Sorry.

Closets . . . .as far back in the back corner as they can go. You don't have any open heating ducts on the floor, do you? :(

We checked closets last night but im going to check again now. And no, luckily our vents are on the ceiling. I also need to check toy boxes, under beds, this snake was a good 5ft long to so who knows what he climbed up and got into.

Oh, a bigger snake . . . I was thinking a baby. Hmmmm . . . .

I would think the darker the better. The 2 that escaped and wandered off were both found in closets.

Do you have any dogs or cats? I have heard of people leaving out a mouse and putting flour down to try to track the snake or tape to try to trap it. Though I would be worried that the tape might injure it.

yeah we have both a dog and a cat. Though the dog is a huge baby and the cat looks insulted if we offer her a live mouse instead of a toy one.

Remember that escaped snakes rarely venture out into the open. They're more likely to travel along the baseboards and through concealed areas. That might help you to mentally map out the most likely path he took on his adventure.

My 4 foot carpet python got out once. Unfortunately for me, my heating vents are along the baseboards. I didn't think she'd be able to squeeze between the bars on the vents, being as big around as she is, but I was wrong! My boyfriend found her two days after the escape using a mirror and a flashlight. She had squeezed her way into the vent, somehow vertically climbed the inside of my wall and wrapped herself around the electrical box for my living room light switch. My boyfriend pulled out the box, capped off all the wires and I spent the rest of my day luring troublemaker out of the wall with a mouse.

I was so upset at the time, but in retrospect I have to give my snake respect for what she did. She squeezed through a space half her size and survived two days holed up inside of a wall. Never underestimate snakes!

Watch your cat and dog carefully. Even if neither are the hunting type, they will react to seeing a snake loose in the house. I might have lost my kingsnake forever if I hadn't turned around one night to see my cat obviously upset by something he saw on the floor.

The dog would probablly start whining. My cat well...shes a bit special in thatshe was a rescue from drug dealers and who knows what they gave her but she stares at the ceiling and meows at it. Her meows arent very trust worthy when it comes to the omg i found a snake meow. Especially when she nuzzles my bearded dragon and they cuddle.

I have two small baskets on one of the desks here that our ball python likes to hide in. I checked these baskets a few times and he wasnt in there, I checked again for the heck of it and there he was.

Hmmm, Mr. Sneaky :)

So glad you found him! I just looked at his thread in PG. He is such a lovely chocolatey color :)

Teddy - I think Stormy meant kastanie :)

Two out of my 3 escapees have been found right out in the open, 5 feet off the floor, on a shelf! LOL.

Actually, as Eric corrected me, I was thinking Kistachie! ~LOL~ I was getting them confused.

Our dogs have been useful in letting us know that a random snake is crawling down the hallway ~LOL~ They start barking like mad.

I just now came home from a cookout and fireworks party and found Sniper on my kitchen floor. I fed him yesterday and had no idea he had escaped!

Well, I wasn't trying to really "correct" anybody, let alone you, Nichole, darlin'.
I was just trying to get the spellings and geography right. We are very proud of our Kisatchie National Forest, here in Louisiana. And its snake.
And I am sure our german friends, across the Atlantic, are very proud of their Kastanie Corns.

Beth, I'm glad you had an easy find.

This is what happens when a yankee (me) moves to the South. Things get confusing.
