What the heck is my snake???

Ok I know I am a little retarded in the morph department. But my I bred my snow female to what I thought was a classic male. I have noticed that over the first year of dads life he lost 95% of his black. He did have a black and white belly pattern which has faded to a very light red and white smuggy belly pattern. Now 50% of my babies have no belly pattern. 25% only have pattern under their neck and the rest have fully belly pattern. Now I noticed that what I think is snow's are a little more of a red than mom and some of them almost look purpleish pink. Obviously, what looks like classic now is going to look like dad just with out a belly pattern, I assume and the anery's will pretty much stay the same but what about those snows are they going to turn more red or are they going to stay snows. I know that I saw another guy that his snow hatchlings did that and I am just wondering if mine might too. What are my babies? What is my Daddy? Any ideas?

Dad is classic het anery and amel.

Agreed. :)

On the snows and amels can be hard to see the belly pattern. Some times the checks are clear and may not gain color until after a couple sheds or so. Could you post some pics of bellies so as we can help you out? :)

Yeah I will get pictures. Cause with the snows I could understand that it would be hard to see if it even shows up at this time or not. All the Anery's have their belly pattern but I will get a picture of the classic's. I didn't think twice about not seeing belly patterns on the snows but today when I noticed that one of the classic's didn't have it I started to wonder.

 Dad's a poorly diffused blood red which is where the children get the white bellies from.

I would agree with that except the OP stated

Bloodreds don't have black checks on the belly and then lose them later.

Another possibility would be maybe the parents are het motley.

Also wanted to mention that some normals or hypos have a tendency to look like bloodreds. The picture below is a good example. One is a bloodred and one is a normal motley.

Well I am glad to see that everyone else had the same thoughts as me. I have been going over this for months. Well he could be... Well no because... Which it never really mattered to us till now with these babies.

As far as a poorly bred snake I am sure that one is right on the money. I can not say where I got him from so we will just call him a rescue, which he was. So I am thinking I am just going to call him a mutt (lol) and chalk it up to the fact that I have no idea what the babies would look like when they are all grown up.

I had no plans on breeding him but when I feed my snakes I do them all at once in there own tubs and it is my husbands to watch them while I clean out tanks. Well lets just say he is fired. Luckly I have enough friends and family to take these mutt babies however she decided to double clutch on me.

I wouldn't say he is poorly bred at all. He is very pretty and unique. I really like his dark coloration and it looks like he's surprised you with some great babies.

LOL, the poor guy knew he was being left out and wanted to sneak over and get some action too! Can ya blame him? :grin01:

 He is a pretty boy and has a wonderful personality which is why we love him and he is the perfect snake for my husband. But unfortunatly he is a little to much like my husband;) And you are right he did give us a good batch of babies a couple I am guilty of keeping. I have to keep the Amel cause I don't have one and an anery only because the marking on his head looks like Mickey Mouse

I don't know of ANY corn snake morph that actually looses it's belly pattern. Some will change color, some become"masked" by there ground color, creeping onto there belly, but none actually loose the checkers completely. Not that I am aware of.:shrugs:

High quality bloodreds don't have a belly pattern. That's true. But I have seen some blood reds with belly checkers. Outcrosses, and hets certainly do/would/will?.

It could be a normal or hypo. But most of these retain atleast a rudimentary amount of black, and usually the belly checks would still be apparent even if a different color.

I'd like to see it's belly. And a better look at it's eyes. Was it in shed at the time of these pics? Are these dad's true colors?

Ok I got better pictures. He wasn't in shed just in his tank in a dark room and I guess I was wrong my husband said that his checkers were not black and white but a burnt orange and white but very defined checkers. The black that he did loose was the black around his "saddles" you can see that he has specs of it now just not all the way around.

Oh yeah he would sit still to get a closer look at his eyes but they are the same color as his dark red with black pupils.

After seeing the belly, I'd definitely go with Bekers, and say it's a normal, or possibly a hypo with lots of hets.:shrugs:
