Meet my new Black Pinesnake I received from Russ P. last week on Aug 31st. I introduced him in a previous thread but didn't take any photos until he had a chance to get used to his new home.
He was born on June 13th, 2010, (My birthday as well), and was a little bigger than I expected for being just a few months old after being used to corn and ratsnakes for so long. He pretty much hates everything alive that comes near. I try and handle him at least once a day (wearing gloves of course) but so far no change in attitude. As related by some others I can probably expect at least a year until his demeanor calms down a little bit. Anyway, onto some photos:

Beautiful!! My ex has one, and she calmed down after a few months of regular handling.
 
LOL this is normal and I wouldnt be to worry about it. Its all bluff.
Once they get used to you touching them, the mellow a bit. They will swell with air but like all young snakes, they tend to mellow as they get some size on them.
 
Congrats Seijin!!!! Mine gets reeeal pissy too but once I pick him up and start handling him he calms right down and becomes a big ol loaf of sweetness. But as soon as I put him back down he goes berserk again haha! Major bi-polar-ness going on I guess
 
Well, he will be 3 months old in the next 2 days. I have been able to hold him the past 3 days without getting bit. He still puts on a show but so far no teeth, I'm think I'm starting to make some progress :) I'm still surprised how big he is for 3 months. Most of the pits I see at the snake shows are much smaller at around this age range.

Yeah wow he definitely does look big for his age!! Nice!!! You may have a monster on your hands there :cheers:

This is extremely normal behavior of pits. All bluff after awhile. No major progress to be honest. He will mellow out after awhile and be puppy dog tame.

Main reason why this guy is larger..
Most of the ones you see at shows are maintenance fed. This guy was taken care of and fed a regular diet.
