So I try to handle all 3 of my snakes a bit on the days they are not digesting or shedding. I have discovered that little ones can be prone to zipping off when you try to adjust them to do something else. I read an article that people commented about snakes liking cloth so I keep a cotton beanie hat on my lap when handling and watching TV and what not. If I need my hands free for a second the beanie becomes a soft, dark, warm hide that all my little ones go right into and I am able to see a coil or two easily to confirm they have not flitted off.

By no means should you not be paying attention to your snake, if you've got to walk away put them somewhere secure. This is just for easy breaks for other necessities that arise with a little wriggling worm in your hands.

That is a brilliant idea! I may even crochet a carrying pouch for snakes. Hey actually would anyone be interested in having a carrying pouch crocheted for their snakes? Nicklandovich, you get first dibs because you gave me the idea =)

Very clever! I know that when I wear a hoodie I can direct Stig (such an explorer!) into the hood or inside the sweater and he'll be calm for a few minutes while I catch my breath. XD
I planned on sewing a fleece pouch for him, he loves to burrow through my collection of fleece.

So many brilliant ideas. Sadly I can neither crochet nor sew. Nor do anything arts and craftsy for that matter.

Hey that would be awesome. What colors you making them in?

My snakes all really enjoy the beanie. I'm hoping it might become a learned behavior and if they go missing I can leave all my hats everywhere. Lol.

All good and fun.. until they poop in one :p I wonder if there's any relatively soft material that doesn't absorb moisture.. thin neoprene, perhaps?
