New corn owner, curious as to what morph I purchased.

Hello everyone,

I'm new here and I'm excited to start posting in this forum full of delightful corn snake owners, and thought the best way to start is with posting some pictures of my new buddy. I'm happy to have discovered this forum as it has been an invaluable source of information on what to do and on what to avoid doing as well.

So I've purchased - after gathering information and thinking it over for a couple of days - a corn from a small, local breeder. I've had my new buddy since last Saturday, 01/30. The breeder probed him for me and determined my corn to be male. I've decided to name him Zell, and he's a hatchling from August '15. I'm really excited to keep my new buddy as I've adored snakes since a very long time but only just now decided to own one.

Now regarding my curiosity. Before purchasing him I've made sure he had been eating and shedding well, determined he looked healthy, and was active and alert. However, since choosing a specific color wasn't really interesting to me, I did not inquire the breeder about the morph of my snake. He just looked amazing to me and was obviously in good health and that were my main concerns at the time. I did however inquire about the parents and the breeder mentioned the male parent at least had the Butter morph.

So below (hopefully I'll be able to post the pictures successfully) will follow some pictures of my new buddy, and I humbly request the membership to give some insight as to what this morph could possibly be. (Up until now I've been trying to identify it myself but without much success). :)

So after failing to attach the photos the first time, here goes again. This is a link to an album I uploaded to Imgur: http://imgur.com/a/uugCL. There should be 4 photos showing. Note however the photos weren't taken with natural light so the color may be affected.

Also something I had forgot to mention is that I'm happy to announce that I've already been able to feed him successfully yesterday evening, without much hassle. :)

Congrats on your new snake and on your first feeding. Awesome!

Does your snake have any belly checkers? Even yellow or light ones count. Yes your lighting makes it difficult. Are the eyes red?

Yeah, belly checkers are present, however, the first 1/3 of the snake's belly is completely white. The other 2/3 is covered in orange colored checkers.

I'll upload some pictures to show his belly. Thanks very much for replying!

Sorry for the double post, but forgot to mention that indeed his eyes are red.

Also, I had read your Cleo progression thread a couple of days back and very much enjoyed it :)

With the red eyes I'm pretty sure on the amel as well. I asked after the checkers because the pattern looks somewhat motley. I'm now hearing that some motleys have some checkers, but a hall mark of a motley is the lack of checkers. In any case your snake Zell is beautiful!

Thanks for reading up on Cleo. She's quite the little girl. I've been out of town and then sick so I have no more pics lately, but I weighed her before feeding last night and she was 35 grams and ate a 5 gram thawed fuzzy. She's so sweet and becoming really tame considering she's hardly been handled for a few weeks. She peeked out of her warm hide at me today :)

Thanks for your help. Indeed, whatever morph he is, he looks really nice either way :)

I'm happy to hear little Cleo is doing well, and hope to see something from her in the future, whenever you're feeling up to it! :)
