Tail tip injury

Hi all. I have accidentally discovered a tail tip injury on my baby corn snake. It doesn't seem to be old skin sticking on it but some kinds of injuries. When I touch that part of the tail, the snake seems not to have feeling on that. Do you guys know if this will recover itself or the tail tip will eventually fall off? Thank you.

I agree it just looks like a kink. The only thing I might add is during sheds, make sure all of the shed gets off of the tail, it might be a little difficult for it to happen naturally because of the kink. And a stuck tail tip could cause problems, but as long as you check that it came off every shed, and help out if it didn't you should be good.

Did the tail always look like that?

Cute snake though! What's its name?

He has shedded his skin including the tail tip skin. However, the kink is still there and it doesn't seem to react to my touching. I wanna know if he will return normal overtime or just remain kinked the rest of his life? Thank you

Reptiles have amazing regeneration and healing abilities. Hard to say what the outcome will be with yours. I've seen some improve as they grow. Yours could too.

In general discussion...
I call it "deli cup tail". I've seen that injury from breeders putting hatchlings in deli cups and not realizing that the tail isn't all the way inside the cup. They go to close the lid and break the tail.

OUCH!

How ya been daddio? (I've been on somewhat of an involuntary hiatus from this board, but your comment actually compelled me to respond, as busy as I actually am!).

Now that I've alerted the media to the fact that I've busier than a cross-eyed air traffic controller as of late, I had NO CLUE that I wasn't the ONLY idiot who erroneously snapped the cover of a deli cup on a hatchling's tail! I caught it quickly as I actually HEARD the poor little squiggly one rapping up against the side of the cup like a percussionist's drumstick hitting a snare! Upon closer inspection, it didn't result in a kinked tail for that hatchling, thankfully. However, I do think I inadvertently caused the runt of the clutch to develop a kink when I prematurely tugged on what I thought was a stringy piece of substrate but what was actually the tiny lifeline from the snake to the yolk of the egg which occurred almost immediately after hatching! BUMMER! Just goes to show that sometimes, patience pays off while observing newly hatched and young sneakies! He's still a little cutie and I was able to find him a nice home where he is loved and cared for, which is what truly counts, IMHO.

In any case, thanx for the info, as just the mere fact that I am not alone makes me feel like LESS of an idiot! :nope:

Others can't learn from our mistakes or as I call them "I'm an Idiot" moments if we don't share

:iagree: I hear ya daddio! Have to share the info or else we'd just be greedy by keeping all the important stuff to ourselves! Even at the risk of embarrassment, I agree 1000% (if that were possible).

But I've been having a week from HELL! LITERALLY! I think the unexpected warm weather in NYC (hit the 80's both yesterday and the day before!) has had some unforeseen consequences, especially amongst the socioeconomically-deprived and simultaneously mentally-ill and addicted populations I have the pleasure of working with! I've been busier than a weatherman in a tornado! But then again, you already KNOW that, I guess I'm just bordering on psychotic after a long subway ride from Harlem (my typical Friday location) and after a crazy day to the safety and comfort of my humble abode in Brooklyn (God's Country!). After midnight so it's Saturday already!!

Warm weather brings with it some wild behavior and there has been tons of research to support this observation, so I'm not sure why it always seems to catch those in my field by surprise. Maybe because too many pencil-pushers have their heads in the sand and up or down orifices I shouldn't mention on a family-friendly site, but you know what I mean, no?

:kids:

I mean, after YEARS of baptism by fire, ya think we'd KNOW better? Fuhgeddaboudit! :nope:

However, I will try to play catch up at SOME point! Thanx for the sentiment though. It's nice to know I'm appreciated somewhere!
