I started feeding chicks and quails because I read where they help with sheds and scales. Some sort of protein in the feathers or feather shafts. So far my adults are doing great. Healthy, great sheds, no regurgs.

Personally I feed mice and rats. Have never tried anything else. I would wonder a couple of things, nutritional comparissions, availability and cost.

Let's just see if I can piece some of this together.
Prey Prey Size Protein Fat kCal/g
Mouse adult over 10g 55.8% 23.6% 5.25
Rat juv 10-50g 56.1% 27.5% 5.55
Guinea Pig neonatal male 51.2% 34.7% 5.95
Chicken one day old 64.9% 22.4% 5.8
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW MUCH A BABY CHICKEN AND A NEONATAL GUINEA PIG WEIGHS?
Quail not specified 63.1% 31.9% 6.79
Anole adult, 10g+ 67.4 unavailable unavailable
Hope that helps compare some prey, I tried to keep it within similiar size ranges with the info I had.

I'm not sure, but I think I read somewhere that guinea pigs are very fatty and could be harmful to the snake. Newly born guinea pigs are big, I've seen newborns that are larger than hamsters. They're a lot cuter than mice pinks since guineas are born with hair.
If you feed the chick with their yoke sack still in them, the hawks feet and ceres turn a very bright yellow after eating them a while.Might be something for people breeding yellow snakes such as butters, etc to think about!!! :shrugs:
I live on a ranch, by the sound of things I have a few frog's around. Does anyone know about the level of folly in this? And is it advisable to feed wild caught prey (I assume the anoles are wild caught for the FL folk) to CB's?
