Has anyone every bought from Rodentpro.com

Blckkat, that was my first order with RodentPro, so that's my only experience with them. It could be that maybe they were trying to unload some bunk stuff on me, which isn't cool, or maybe I just got 'unlucky' and normally that's not how their hoppers look like? But since I have about a hundred other hoppers that size, I think it's pretty fair to say that their hoppers are small. To be fair as well, I've had them in the freezer for a while, so we could attribute the broken limbs to that maybe- though definately not the size. It looks kinda emaciated as well IMO.
Honestly, I don't even know why I still have them. I don't feed them to my snakes and they are just sitting in my freezer. The one I thawed tonight for the picture was refused by both my Gopher and my MBK (who will never refuse even when she has no business continuing to eat!)... It sounds like I'm making it up but she just tail rattled at it like it really made her mad and didn't go near it. I left it there for like 15 minutes too!
Ruby ALWAYS refused them when I was trying to fatten her up after laying eggs (though she's a huge fan of their day old quail).. Their pinkies I got in that order were gobbled up, and the XL mice are still being eaten happily, though I have to wash them as part of the thawing process or they smell really mousy as well and they also look like heck (their bellies 'shed' in the water while thawing, and they came to me with freezer burned noses tail tips and nipples!) Holden is definately not hurting on them though, and will continue to get them till they are gone- or I'll throw them out when they get a year old.

I don't know what else to say. I'm happy for anyone who's getting good product from them, but my experience was bad to say the least..

If you would contact RP with your concern, I'm sure they would make it right.

You know what else is odd? I've never received colored mice from RP, only whites.

LOL! I didn't get a single white mouse, even ALL the adults are black and gray/brown.. :grin01:
As far as complaining to them, I didn't know how good things could be, honestly thought that was the norm. How would I complain? "these mice smell like mice?" or maybe, "these mice are smaller than the ones I never got anywhere else?" :shrugs: I looked around here for information about the freezerburn, and it seemed that the running concensus was that even though they probably have a little less nutrition they probably aren't a problem.
But the way I am, I wouldn't have complained anyway- my way of showing dissatisfaction has more to do with going elsewhere... And letting people know how I feel about them if they ask.

Could this possibly have something to do with the rumors that RP doesn't breed 100% of what they sell? I've heard that they pick up local extras when they run short....?

Heck. MOST of the large mouse breeders resale part of "their stock." As far as I'm concerned, it isn't a rumor for SOME of them. (I won't mention names.) I've seen sealed bags contained in tens of THOUSANDS of rodents in commercial freezers at mouse facilities. When I asked what those large bags sealed like that were for, and they replied "Those are going to 'company X' - we sell to them in bulk like that whenever they get low. They just repackage them, put their labels on it, and sell them."

I am NOT saying RP does this, but it wouldn't surprise me even a little bit if they do.

the last time I ordered mice online.... I was running really low on the smaller sizes.... I ordered from american rodent... the mice came pretty decent, pinks were missing limbs but no real biggie to me since on some I have to cut them off anyway.... but... the really cool thing?? In some states, like WI, where I am.... the shipping was free because my order was over $100. :) I Like free shipping :D

I recently picked up a bunch of mice from American Rodent at the NARBC Show in Tinley Park.

I picked up 50 small, 50 medium and 50 large mice. They were packaged in heavy duty Ziploc bags and were uniformly sized. The only “issue” I had was the large mice bag did have some substrate and fecal matter in it but this wasn’t a big deal to me as I repackaged them into vacuum sealed bag. On the plus side, none of the 3 bags had that mouse urine smell to them which was nice.

I would recommend American Rodent as well http://www.americanrodent.com/

Regards,
Steve

I've purchased from both American Rodent and RodentPro; my only issue with RodentPro was the turd-to-frozen-mouse ratio.

American Rodent vacuum-packs their pinkie bags, which I like.

The price differential was minimal, given what I ordered.

regards,
jazz

I've also never received anything but white mice from Rodentpro. Never had any that fell apart or shed while warming and never noticed any kind of urine smell. Maybe you really did just get a bad batch. I'm pretty sure they would've tried to make things right if you had called them. I had to call them once about a shipping mistake, and they ended up sending out my correct order as well as letting me just keep the wrong order that they initially sent me. Couple hundred free feeders ain't a bad deal and makes for good customer service, if you ask me.

Wow Duff, that does sound pretty cool!
As I said before though, it's about 3-5 months later now, and I didn't know how much I disliked these mice until I tried the mouse factory.
Besides that though, I wouldn't want to continue business with someone who could be filling orders with mice they don't know anything about. I mean in that case, the freezerburn could be the least of their worries. Anyway it would be strange to go back and give them another shot when I'm so happy with the mouse factory now.

My shipment from RP was great. I haven't seen any poo and most of the limbs are intact, some are broken but attached. I ordered large pinkies and peach fuzzies. Even the pinkies and peach fuzzies looked fatter and healthier than your hopper in the picture. It may be too late now, but you could try by sending the pictures you showed us to them to see if they would try to make it right. You never know unless you try. :)
I'm curious, did you weigh the mice to compare the weight difference? Oh, all the peach fuzzies I got are white too.

You know maybe I will send them an email. Even if it's too late for them to do anything for me, I'm sure they want to know about the quality of the sub- assuming it was a subcontracted job by the color. They should even be able to figure out who it was that bred these mice by the color and the date of my order...
I don't have a scale still, but the fuzzy is noticably lighter.. you can see in the first picture how very skinny it's little belly is.
I'll let you guys know how they respond.

*Edit* Hey guys! I also remembered something else.. When I was first looking at storing frozen mice instead of using prekilled from the petstore, I picked up a free/donated refrigerator/freezer that someone had abandoned at a house I manage.. I ordered some mice (I think it was Rodentpro, though I'm not sure) and they arrived WHITE and looked much better to my memory.. Now that freezer failed the first day (probably why it was abandoned) so I never got to use those mice. I then bought a new chest freezer from Sears, and made the order I'm talking about here.

I mention this for two reasons..
1. Inconsequentially, I have said here that this was my first order from Rodentpro.. and it may not have been, though it is the first one I got to use- through no fault of theirs..
2. I think the points brought up here might be right about this order being sub'd out.. As that first order was white mice and if memory serves, they looked much better.

Anyway, I don't want to malign a company unfairly- After all, they may not know what shipped in their name, and they have never been given that info by me.. I've sent them an email and I'll let you guys know how they respond.

Well I got a response from RP, they didn't confirm or deny whether the order came from another mouse producer, but have said they will send out replacements on the hoppers (which interestingly was an order for fuzzies- not tiny hoppers) and the XL mice. I do think that's a pretty generous offer considering I placed the order in May. That is pretty great customer service..

Customer service means a lot to me. I'm glad you gave them the chance to make it right and it sounds like they responded quickly.
You'll have to let us know if the quality of the replacements in good or not.

Yay!! That's awesome, especially since the order was placed so long ago! Congratulations, aren't you glad we talked you into trying. :) I don't expect ANY company to always be perfect whether it be restaurants, shops, ext. What's important to me is customer service. If a company is willing to make a bad situation right, that's enough for me. Good for you. :dancer:

Customer service is great. However, great customer service doesn't make up for a crappy product. RP did the same thing when I told them about my order when I finally did make a comparison with another company. They refunded my entire order, but that doesn't mean I'd re-spend that money with the same company.

It's like going to Walmart and getting fantastic customer service (yeah right) but continually having products break after you get them home. Would you keep going back if you could get the same service and better products at another retail store?

My $00.02: I have used TMF for a few years. After joining this board I learned of RP, so I checked them out... they are for sure cheaper. Mostly because they don't over-night the mice. And you have to wait up to a week for them, depending on when you order. But, I gave them a shot. First off, not vacuum sealed. Second, lots of mouse poops, scrawny mice that look not well fed or cared for and broken off legs and tails (no big deal, but gross). Third, HUGE size variation.

I'll be going back to TMF when these are gone. I am willing to pay more for quality. Their mice are clean, ALL THE SAME SIZE, and vacuum sealed. Plus they next day ship. I have called in the morning (Up to early afternoon, in fact.) and had my mice the very next day.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. I even told them in the email that I can't be "won back" from the mouse factory, nor did I even ask for any sort of compensation. I just referred them to this thread, and said I probably owed them the benefit of the information about the quality I received. I would want to know as a business owner, if something similar happened in my business.. The president of the Co. wrote back and thanked me for the information and offered to replace the whole order. I answered that I wasn't expecting that, but I'd be happy to take the XL's and 'fuzzies', which I was not happy with. (I say 'fuzzies' because apparently my order was for fuzzies, but I got the tiny hoppers instead.)

TBH, I also still happen to believe that it's irresponsible to farm out your orders if you can't control the quality, even if you intend to 'make good'.. After all if you can afford to take that risk, it implies that your hope is not everyone will complain, and they'll get stuck with the bunk order. I would rather be told I couldn't have the order filled than end up with mice from a company I didn't order from.

Maybe I shouldn't write that until after the order arrives?

But I will post comparison photo again if it is different or the same..

On a side note, my most recent order from TMF came today. Great and very fast service. 200 small perfect pinks, vaccuum packed in lots of 50.

Did you get white or black mice?
