ok so its been 24 hours since i put my guy in his new bigger tank and i can't find him i pulled up all the aspen he's not burried in it so if he got out how the hell am i gunna find him help please?

wylie thanks for the liknk that was very good but i have nothing in there that he could be in i just double checked everything

thanks guys you are helpfull but i need to find him my mom will if she knows he is out damn no tricks or anything

I had a baby corn escape once. Searched every inch and crack in the room for 2 and a half hrs, and was sick. I gave up then and wrote off the $20 loss. Later I went into an adjoining room to feed the cats and saw one looking like it had something cornered. I was like, "Whatcha got? then got closer and saw a black and silver coil of snake on a shelf! YAY! I grabbed it up pretty quick and looked her over- no injuries, thank heaven.
She made it past 2 cats and 2 kittens 5 hrs unharmed to a shelf 20' away from her tub. Not even towards a heatsource or water where we had been looking. Snakes can climb up things so look up and under, too.

Crossing fingers forya, I hope you find him.

If he did get out some tips on finding snakes that I have heard of working before are as follows:

- Turn off the lights in your room and set a thawed mouse in the middle or corner of the room but surround it with plastic bags..This way when the snake goes for the meal you will hear the bags move..

- Check every dark and warm spot in your house and I mean every spot you can think of..even if you think it's to high or small for them to reach..check under the fridge, under the stove, in closets, basements..even in shoes in the closet..

- You can set up a soda bottle trap (do a search on the forum on how to set one of these up)

- lay out some flour on the floor along the walls and doors..this way if the snake passes by it will leave a trail to show where it's going..

good luck to you..and make sure you check the vivarium THOUROGHLY! Trust me they are great hiders!..feel through the aspen very slowly and check in and around all logs and hides..good luck to you

While you're looking, best figure out how he escaped and see if you can block it. There's no point putting him back into the bigger tank without sorting the problem, as he'll be straight back out the same way.

Good luck to you, keep us posted.

Hope you find your little one soon. Iv had an escape in the past, looked every were for him and could'nt find him, 3 months later while tidying up he crawled out from were ever he was hiding, a little thin but no lasting damage.

i still can't find the little guy man i tried the food with plastic bags trick nothin i tried pulling out every heat source nothin and i have no idea where or how he got out but thanks guys

:( So sorry to hear that, I hope you are able to recover him. Make sure whoever does the laundry checks all the pockets before putting the clothes in the washer. Also, maybe try setting some water dishes out for him in case he is still lose in the house somewhere, then at least he will be able to get a drink, it may save his life, long enough for you to find him. Put the water bowls along the walls of your house especially in the same room that your snake escaped. Try to cover up holes that he could use to escape to the outdoors, cover heating vents with screen if you can, things like that, think like a snake, where might you go if you were one and could fit thru tiny openings. You have the best chance of recovering your snake in the first 48 hours as snakes will usually still be in the same room they escaped into.

thanks for the advice but that dosn't sounds good cuz he's been missing since sun night sometime

Aw. :( Yeah, this would put it right at about 48 hours for sure. If it were me though, I don't think I could actually totally stop looking for quite a while, that would be hard to accept.

Well, if you can't find him, are you able to get another one then?

yeah i can get another one but i want him and like i said earlier if my mom finds him out the viv she is gunna freak she hates snakes so i need to find one that looks like him lol and my local store is out of them right now

Hehe, I hear ya on that one, it's a good thing I don't live with my step mom, she'd have a freakin heart attack if I even had one in the house, caged or not!

So which morph did you have?

see the thing is the guy at the store screwed me cuz he said it was a motley sunglow and it is a motley but it sure isn't a sunglow here check it out

Oh my gosh he is so cute, man, I'd be so heartbroken if my snake got away.

Yeah, a motley, not a sunglow. If that happened to me, I highly doubt I'd have sent my snake back (I received mine via FedEx) cause I was in love with the thing even before they sent it! So yeah, I actually thought about that before they sent it, like what if they made a mistake and it was the wrong morph, and I thought about it and I honestly don't think I'd have ever had the heart to send it back, poor thing.

Have you thought about ordering one online?

thought about it but most places wont send it until its warm out right so that won't be for a while plus you need a credit card for that
