Tonight was the first time I fed her a fuzzy. Because of a couple of regurges and a few refused feedings, she has been slow to grow. I have been a little tentative to move her up in food size too quickly. But tonight, I fished out the smallest Fuzzy in the bag and let her have it. She went right for it and finished it off quickly. She is still looking around for something else. Poor girl, she is used to getting two pinks. She must think I am mistreating her to only give her one food item. But it is a good sign that she is getting a good healthy appetite.

I dunno. I was bored and felt like sharing.

i just switched crush up to fuzzy's. fed him his 3rd one tonight. it was bigger than i would like. had a real hard time with the legs.. but got it down. definitely am going to be buying some smaller ones this weekend at the show im going to. but i was the same way feeding him two pinks.. so im thinking if he starts looking around ill give him a fuzzy and a pink.. he has grown very nicely since about august. definitely hit a growth spurt which im excited about. she should be ok lol.

Have you tried slitting your mice? Someone on here did a bit of an informal study. Slicing mice through the back in 4 little "V"s shows increased growth rate. It seems reasonable that better access to the inner tissues would lead to fewer regurges. If you haven't tried it, I'd strongly suggest it. I slice hoppers and smaller, and then all the mice for my females.

The old man of our group, Smokey, is really strange. He'll cruise his tank until his aspen is totally flat looking for food and when we feed him he'll strike, curl, hug and then let go and look at his food as if he was waiting for it to start a conversation with him. Last night he laid curled up around the mouse as if he was trying to keep it warm and this morning would not let us take it out of the tank. :shrugs:

This is the third week of pretending to eat and then cuddling with the mouse. It's a good thing that he is a butter ball - 485 grams - or else we would be really worried.

Thanks for the suggestion. But, I have been slitting mice for a while.

I hope after some good cuddle time, that he eats for you next time. :p

I think he is holding out for a chick or quail. I'll try that next to see if he is just spoiled or just not really hungry. Could be he smelling the females and looking for some action. :shrugs:

Then I will have to tell him that they are all jail bait.

Awwwww glad to hear she is on her way to recovering. I so know the feeling when they look up at you for another. Too sweet! :)

Too bad if she feels like she's being mistreated.....you have thumbs....you get to call the shots!:)

oh dont say that! people will jump on you for cohabbing! :uhoh:

We all cohab our snakes sooner or later. :shrugs:

We have to in order to get hatchlings. :dancer:

See, I am playing right into Smokey's hands, om, scales. Maybe I should put Queenie in with him to see if he is serious about it. She's old enough and heavy enought. If he is really in the mood, he'll overlook the fact she's a banded king snake.
