New snake owner and great success

Daddys Girl

1st time snake owner
So, my partner and my son got me my corn snake form mothers day! Im so so pleased.

He is a baby creamsicle and just so adorable. His name is Kanga. We named him this as our surname is Roostan! lol

My 1st handling event went very well and he really seems to be a friendly little thing, has a habbit of licking my nose! lol

Last night I fed him for the 1st time. I was so worried he wouldnt feed, or Id do something wrong (as it is all new to me), but there was no hesitation from him what so ever. He took the pinky and munched it down in no time at all.

It was so fasinating to watch.

I just wanted to share my success with you and introduce myself and Kanga.

Also, is it really possible that I luv him already?? He is just sooooo cool!

Congrats and welcome to the forums and the world of owning a Corn.

If you get the chance you should order/buy Kathy Love's book on Corn Snakes. It has a lot of great info, as does this site. Don't hesitate to ask questions either.

~Chris

PS. We love Corn Snake Pics!!!

Welcome enjoy the site, and now when mothers day actually comes around you can just act like Kanga wasn't for mothers day and say "Mothers day is here where's my new snake?!" Cause trust me you'll want another one by then ;)

Welcome and yes certainly welcome to the addiction. Yes it is possible to love him this much already!

I have a creamsicle too... I really do adore this hybrid.

I also suggest Kathy Love's book it is full of oustanding knowledge and insight. Also, this forum has tons of experts and is a good resource.

Enjoy!

Welcome, and good it went well whit the feeding :DWelcome, and good it went well whit the feeding :D

Ohana, did you mean to say Hybrid????

Yes, I meant to say hybrid. A creamsicle corn is a hybrid (corn snake and a rat snake,(Pantherophis guttatus x Pantherophis emoryi)). It happens to be one that I adore.

I also have a creamsicle. I do love him, more then any other pet that I've had (and I've had plenty of them).

Well, thank you to you all for such a kind welcome.

You'll soon get sick of me as I will be asking LOTS of questions. Im a bit of a bugger when it comes to new hobbies etc. I always HAVE to know everything I possibly can, I will spend ages reseraching the internet, reading books and asking people a lot of questions. lol

Welcome to the forum! CS is an excellent resource for anything and everyone on here is super nice and helpful :)

HI there :) and welcome to your new addiction!! I remember getting my first snake (amel corn) and saying "well, now i've got one, i won't need another" but then I got my lavender kingsnake, and am also looking for a mate for my corn. So while you may tell yourself that you'll only have the one, you'll probably get more.

Oh, and don't worry about being a "bugger" about asking questions. That's what we're here for. I hope your little Kanga lives a long, happy, healthy life with your family.
