I was going to post a thread asking about how to deal with my corn snake (ivy) who has not pooed for nearly 2 weeks after eating. I fed her a tiny mouse the sunday before last. No poo... so I assumed that perhaps because it was so small there wasn't enough waste to excrete. I fed her a chick to hopefully push it through...still no poo even after 6 days... I was getting worried it would all go rotten inside her. I checked the temperatures- fine. I raised the humidity slightly since when she was shedding this stimulated her to go. So I recalled some advice I had once read about giving them a little soak in some warm water. I emptied out the cracker box in the kitchen and gave it a wash (mum's still at work...what she doesn't know won't hurt her...). I filled it an inch high with some tepid water and popped Ivy in and held the lid over the top to stop her escaping. I didn't actually seal it down because I didn't want her to suffocate. After about 3-4 minutes her body started to undulate and then....ta-dah....! A poo! She looked happier afterwards in her tank.
I suppose the warmth of the water stimulates the muscles to contract. Maybe some water gets in through the cloaca and softens it a bit...nice..!
