It is not clear at this time the relationship between bubblegum, coral, champagne and hypo. Test breedings by several people have shown that some are not compatible with each other. Right now it appears there may be several genes at work to make the different kinds of pink. Some of us who are working with the SMR type Coral gene do not believe it is the same as hypo.Is bubblegum and coral two different phases or are they marketing names for the same thing?:shrugs:

I just made this pairing between my neon pink female "Peony" and my SMR Coral Snow "Peaches". Peony is on the left, she is actually brighter than in this photo because if I had gotten the exposure right for her, then Peaches would have been too deep a color.

The brighter pink snake in the center (his name is "Sonnet") was produced by crossing my neon male "Prince" with my coral female "Blossom". All the offspring were colorful but some of them were exceptionally pink like Sonnet.

And not to be left out, here's Minstrel, my new little Champagne Pink male. Yes, he really is that pink!

WOW!!! Super impressive. Do you mind me asking where you got Minstrel from? Is he from Pasco Paul's bloodlines? And not to be left out, here's Minstrel, my new little Champagne Pink male. Yes, he really is that pink!

That's so sad about Sahara's health. She certainly grew up to be a beautiful snake. My little '06 snow girl, Sahara. I don't think she will get a whole lot bigger... she was in rough shape with retained sheds and full of mites when she came to me, and still has occasional (less frequently these days though) regurging issues[/IMG]

Thanks! Minstrel, along with his equally specatular (for a female) future bride, came directly from Pasco Paul. The neon pinks I got from Stephan Wagner and all the corals came from South Mountain Reptiles (Don Soderberg). The corals range from super bright to very pale. Interestingly, some of the het coral progeny snows from the palest one are surprisingly colorful. This strain of coral is not acting like the standard hypo gene, and could get a new name once we figure out the genetics.Lynnea said:You have some really amazing snakes!! Did you breed Minstrel? Which are your SMR stock? Wow!!
Scully my odd snow duckling....

Here's my latest coral addition from SMR. Still trying to come up with an appropriate botanical or music/poetic themed name for her.
All I can say is, WOW! I am hoping to produce pinks/corals like these eventually--time will tell!

I fell in love Shelly a while back when I saw her pictures on another thread. And your avatar is pretty cool too. It looks like a hidden Mickey.![]()
