Appropriate size to feed at 2 year mark

Ok my corn is almost at her two year mark now and I'm unsure of her weight. I've never weighed her before. I just wanted to compare what I'm feeding her to what you guys are feeding yours. I've been feeding her Large mice for about the last month now, and shes taking them like a champ. They don't make her so big that shes going to pop or anything, but they make her plump. So I'm assuming that she could take an XL Mouse. If I order a bag of 25 and I feed her once a week, thats 6 months worth of food! After that she would be pretty much ready for small rats right? I know there was a scale or chart or something around here that I saw before that showed you how long to feed them certain mice. Anyone have any idea where that may be?

The reason I'm asking is because I've been feeding her live and I want to stop doing that before she gets bigger. I ran out of frozens, and haven't bought any since. She is a great eater and has never refused a meal either. She also eats MUCH faster than my big boy scooby lmao.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Brian

I would recommend getting a scale, as that is what feeding is based on and for a great chart, search "The Munson Plan"

It depends on the size of the snake. Prey items should be no larger than 1 and 1/2 times the snakes width at the largest point.

An adult corn should be taking adult or jumbo mice. Rats are typically too large and too fatty for an adult corn.

thats why I said she would be able to easily pound jumbo mice. I beg to differ on that. My large corn can pound a small rat with ease, and I've fed him a medium before.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should

Most snakes can take a meal 2-2.5 times thicker than their thickest part, but it does not mean they should. This can cause regurge and im sure a few other things. Just get a scale or go by the 1.5x rule of thumb feeding every 5-7 days.

As for the size of a 2 yr old snake, it can greatly vary from snake to snake and has a lot of factors involved.

Best wishes,
Chris

Great. I'm 135 lbs, and I can eat an entire large pizza with everything by myself. Does that mean I should?

No, because it's not very healthy. Just because you *can* fit the bigger size rodents into your snake, does NOT mean you *should*. A large adult mouse every 7-14 days (depending on the snake - start out at ten and adjust as needed) is the PERFECT diet to sustain an adult corn.
