Garters - Red Spotted

These Red-spotted Garters are some new additions.
Since these snakes do intergrade, it is possible that one, or all of these, (that I just got) have some intergrade blood but ... they still fall under the category of Red-spotteds (Thamnophis sirtalis concinnus).
Beautiful snakes with very mild temperaments. Not given to much musking either.
These each have their own little physical issues (that seem minor and will be taken care of)... and they could use some groceries... but appear, otherwise, healthy.

To make this an even longer story/thread ...
I had requested a 1.2 trio, which I got, but ended up with a surprise when the box contained 2.2.
I imagine that the 2nd male was thrown in because he is not saleable.:shrugs: He is cute, has great color, and maneauvers well, but ... the poor little guy is very skinny, has some scarring (one is pretty bad and caused a bit of disfigurement during the healing process), and has a minor issue or two (that needs to be, and will be, taken care of). When I, later, spoke to the guy, who sent them, he said he figured he'd throw the little guy in and that he doesn't really know if the little fella will make it but, if I can get him eating, ... who knows.
At first, I was (silently) not happy about being sent a "problem" but, of course, now, I will see what I can do for the little guy.
Yesterday, I decided to see if he would eat and ... he took a Minnow from me! Afterwards, he kept looking around (and up at me) to see if there was any more food. He was starving. I didn't want to give him another minnow because he "just got here" and I do not know when he last ate or what may happen if/when he did eat (as I said, he is very skinny). The upside is that he does have a good appetite ... and will be fed, again, very soon.

I think these are my favourite of all the garters, they have amazing colour... Yours look big, too.

I just love the looks of garters... they have such beautiful colors. I just love the close up head shot of the first male. Good luck with the other male, sounds like he's going to need some extra TLC.

Garters are great snakes. They come in various colors/patterns and many have great personalities.

Yep, I went ahead and got them. Kept thinking about them and just couldn't help myself.
I do hope I can get the troubled fella back to good condition. Will sure do my best for him.
