New Snake Hook-in action;)

Yes, we are completely geeked out over our first snake hook that arrived today from http://www.thesnakeguru.com/

I was lucky to hear Brad Baysinger speak about how to use a hook and the materials involved in making them etc.

Since we have a baby BP that is very skittish (read here endlessly strikes) I wanted to see if 'hook training' would help so he would calm down and I could retain my skin:)

Anyway, here it is, custom made (as he makes them all to order)...
A 24 inch rubber handle rubber hooked skin saver;)

First, here it is (had to show the card...I love the illustration)

Second, all on its own...I really like the area he carves out for your thumb.

Lastly...here it is in action;)

Thanks for looking!

Whoa, are you sure it's long enough?? Those big, fuzzy pythons pack quite a bite! I love that morph, though.

Hehehe...
We are new to the Fuzzy Blue Morph...
but this guy is so tame our 12 year old can handle him with or without the new hook:)

Hmmm....seems my last post is missing...
Give it another shot.
Yes, the hook is big and the snake is small...but it worked like a charm and the hook rocks!!!

Frank was out for the first time in about 3 weeks...20 minutes no strike...he took about 10-15 minutes to relax but I was down right happy!

And the 07 corns had fun climbing all over it:)

LOL...yeah from what I've read they have been having some server issues...LOL Ahhhh technology ain't it grand!?

Nice shots! Glad the hook is doing what it is supposed too!

Now I gotta say....that corn in the last pic there is an Absolute screamer! You'll forgive me for asking what morph is that? (I don't keep up on corn morphs to much) It kind of looks like my Ghost only more pale....

~B~

Ding ding ding!!!
You are a winner of name that morph;)

He is an 07 SMR Hypo Charcoal (aka Phantom) male.

From the SMR site this is the description of each:
Charcoal (hypo.)
Pantherophis guttatus
Combination of hypomelanistic & charcoal gives the counterpart of the ghost. Sometimes called charcoal ghost or phantom

Charcoal Corn Snake (Anery. B)
Pantherophis guttatus
These Anerythristic type 'B' snakes lack yellow color pigment usually found in corn snakes. Starter for morph blizzard corns.

Ghost Corn Snake
Pantherophis guttatus
Ghostly pale anerythristic looking corn, a combination of hypomelanism and anerythrism type "A

Here he is: (he loves to move so getting a good pic is kind of tough)

FYI...I used the hook to get out our 8 year old BP from Mr.&'Mrs.' Tricksterpup today.

It worked great!
No pictures:( lifting out Oji was enough to deal with at the time.

Holy heavy snake...you guys make it look so easy...anyway it was the perfect size for his chubby tummy..thanks again!!!

And he was a sweetie...obviously trying to get away...but it was his first time out so I was not surprised...
How do you guys handle those HUGE snakes? it is hard enough trying to fully support a BP...sheers to you all with big snakes:cheers:

Here he is once he was out...isn't he handsome!
