So this may seem like a miniscule acomplishment to some, but my little guy just had his first shed with me...and it was perfect! From eyecaps to tail tip, I am so proud of him!
Especially three days after his first regurge, I was surprised that he did so good...

Now maybe thinking he regurged because he was in shed? Maybe? Not sure...
I wouldn't have fed had I known he was in shed, but it's just so flippin' hard to tell with the Amels...

Oh well...just thought I'd share:)

Congrats, Josh! Your post made me giggle because just this past April I had MY first shed with my first baby...also an amel. It really is fun, isn't it??

I didn't read about your snake's regurg, but it definitely could be due to his being in shed. I just had that happen a few weeks ago, probably the first regurg in this adult snake's life. I have a couple others that will eat half way into their shed. Live and learn. And congrats on your milestone!
 
Thank you so much! It is amazing...I saw him lurking around his tank, more active than usual for how early in the evening it was...went back out to my bonfire I was hosting, came back in 15 min later and there it was!
Ya, I am hoping the regurge was just because he was in shed...like I said, it's so darn hard to tell with him being an Amel...maybe it gets easier as they get bigger?

I can't tell you if this is THE way to do it by any means, but from just my own observations, if they're not out and about on feeding day, they're usually blue. Now this is my adults. My babies are in much smaller tubs and seem to always be ready to eat, regardless of whether or not they're blue. My amel adult will hide for a week or two, which he's doing right now. He'll come out all shiny and pretty and let me know it's time for a moose! His eyes get a little milky, but not blue, and he gets a bit on the dull side, so it's not as hard to tell. The first time freaked me out a bit, but like you, I was thrilled to find his first perfect shed (in my ownership) and I still actually have it! The thrill seems to wear off after the first several, so enjoy the newness and spectacularness of it now. They're just amazing animals!

I got to see the last shed. I was shocked it only took about 5 minutes. It was just so amazing. As I walked into the room I heard crinkling and stopped dead in my tracks to see him slithering out of his skin. What a huge privilege hey.
 
Congrats! It isn't miniscule....it's exciting! I am happy for you and your little guy!

Cyrus is an Amel and I can always tell when he is going into shed. He gets dull looking for a day or two and then his eyes literally look blue (to me anyway). They are this way for about 3 days and then they clear up. Three days later (give or take) he will shed! Hope this helps you a bit!
 
Thanks! Looking back his eyes weren't so much blue to me, but were definitely lighter and kind of pinkish...and are now more red...
But I was excited and hopefully will catch him in it again next time for some pics!

Amels are hard to tell. Often they look creamy pink. Also by the belly checkers, they look milky like. You should log it and watch how the colors changes for the next shed :) between 4-6 weeks from now.

I am glad that i am not the only one that got so excited about my new corns first shed! I kept it too! I didn't get to witness it though! I hope i will in the future!
