Hi white
A lot of small snakes do that. I never had one but I've seen it posted quite often.
Make sure there are NO gaps ANYWHERE around the lid. Move it around and push on it when you check it out. They seem to be able to find the only way out.

White-T, 2 of my 08s do this all the time. It's their favorite place to hang out at night. One even goes in a constant circle around her tank. Like Alan said, just make sure that lid is TIGHT and have fun watching until it gets too big to do it anymore. Oh and I even put a little extra aspen in those twos' tanks for when they take a tumble and moved their hides a little away from the walls. Makes it a little cushier landing.

I would hope you have clips on the lid. I have had a cornsnake that did that. just make sure that there are no spaces between the lid and the tank. And using full words and complete sentences will get you farther on here always...
